I suspect we'll see that even more as the other movies are released. Connecting elements like that seems to be what she does best and while I think going straight to film is a new challenge for her, I bet we'll see a lot of the "sprinkled in details" as well. I suspect that family dynamics will come into play based on just how many sibling relationships there were where one of the siblings is marginalized and the other seems to be the "star" child.

This film looks fantastic (it won't necessarily be fantastic, but these trailers inspire hope), so another film or two about Dumbledore and Grindelwald's ill-fated romance...oh, that could be wonderful. This is gonna be good. Biggest issue with Harry Potter was you knew it was a kids book and you knew which characters were 'too iconic' to die. A new series with new characters? Actually makes the plot feel tense and that characters might be at some risk.

If you want a civilized discussion, I think this somewhat might be what Cory Lay is pointing at: J.K. Rowling doesn't "target" books at a certain audience and the later books were not in any way children's books. Also, J.K. may not have killed off the golden trio but she did want for a considerable amount of time to kill Ron and killed off several other beloved characters. This just goes to show J.K. would never not kill someone she thought needed to die just because it was a kids book or they were "too iconic".

I like the idea of expanding the magical HP universe. A little bit of more - literally - magical fantasy among all these dystopian young adult movies. Too bad there are not more movies/series based on young adult novels about witches. Still waiting for the DVD version of "The Secret Circle" and the screenings of "Sweep/Wicca" and "House of Night". *sigh* I know "Witches of East End" and "The Magicians" but these are not "young adult". Obviously they think only movies based on childrens' books or with adult themes can be successful. But teenagers are also interested in magic.

As excited as I am for this movie I can't help but feel like it needs an antagonist - similar to Voldermort and the death eaters. Gonna be a shame if it is literally just him running around looking for his lost monsters for a whole movie with no sequels, occasionally having to escape the American equivalent for the ministry of magic.
