@@davetherave3511 Yes you are right, they cut out Abernathy's tongue, not Grindelwald's - as Abernathy was in the prison cell instead. They even mention in the beginning how Grindelwald was manipulative towards the guards and whatever, which might indicate that they made the swap then, and they thought they cut out Grindelwald's tongue to prevent further complications.. Which is why Grindelwald gives the tongue back magically to Abernathy at 3:00 , as thank you.

I know this may just be a coincidence but to me atleast it seemed Grindelwald's style of magic really seems to focus on using the elements where as Voldemort preferred Avada Kedavra. In the first film he attacked Newt with that lightning spell, in this scene he used both water and his lightning spell again, and of course in the finale he used his fire shield. I admit I have only 2 films to base it on but it definitely seems like his style.

I agree, grindal is an eccentric wizard, seeing magic as an art, he would not stoop so low as to sacrifice a part of his soul to use the killing curse, he would only use it if he was literally about to die and his only option was to use that spell but with voldamort he is nothing like grindal, he fears death, sacrificed his humanity and soul, he had all the time in the word so why see magic as an art and a beautiful gift when you can kill who ever stands in your way with just a few words and they die.

The funny thing is that this is not actually Grindelwald's escape is really Grindelwald's rescue of Abernathy, Grindelwald was already free, had the Elder Wand and he could just have Apparated to safety without bothering to attack the carriage, but he came back for him. Grindelwald, unlike Voldemort, actually cared and valued his underlings so most of them were truly loyal to him... If you compare it with Voldemort´s death Eaters who followed him mostly out of fear, you can see why Grindelwald was much more effective than Voldemort in so many aspects.

This "pet lizard-thing" is a chupacabra, that was chained to a chair in his cell and tortured him for 6 months by sucking his blood. In time, Grindelwald managed to befriend Antonio, only to use him for his escape. So the fact that he threw Antonio out of the carriage wasn't because he is just evil, it was because this creature had been torturing him for half a year.

True. But we all know. Fear Outta always fades away when your powers are challenged. Just what happened with voldemort in the final battle of Hogwarts. Grindelwald's akolites were faithful and trustworthy assets. His manipulation tactics were far more useful nd relevant. Both were the most powerful dark wizards of their time. I loved voldemort as a dark wizard untill grindelwald came. Grindelwald's got style like Dumbledore. Nd Dumbledore clearly states that Grindelwald matched his powers in each nd every aspect but Dumbledore turned out to be a shade skillful. That's a very important statement made by our beloved former headmaster. Moreover, how voldemort would felt when older nd weaker Grindelwald laughed on his face fearing no death, not even the dark lord. Would've been a great disrespect for the dark lord which further persuaded him to kill Grindelwald. I'd always love to see their duel in any timeline. Voldemort can never be killed but surely can be defeated by powerful magic. The defeat won't last for long but still a defeat is a defeat. I as well think that had Grindelwald been able to defeat Dumbledore, voldemort would've never managed to gain that much of power. Rather he would've joined forces with Grindelwald nd would've rewards by being able to rule England under Grindelwald.
