Visually this might be one of the most beautiful movies in the Harry Potter franchise yet, the soundtrack and sound design are on point, the acting and chemistry is (for the most part) great, but the story and writing are awful lmao

As much as I hate what they did to Johnny Depp, after I've seen the trailer for Dumbledore's secrets, I gotta admit, Mads Mikkelsen is a waaaay better casting choice for Grindelwald, the seriousness he brings to the role who has been the most powerful Dark Wizard until Voldemort came along, is unmatched and proves that he really is the best choice for playing Grindelwald.

i agree with this. i love johnny depp but whenever I looked at him I saw johnny depp, not crindlewald. mads middelsen fit it so much better, in my eyes anyway. i see him as the character instead of the actor. it may sound whack but its like johnny depp is too well known to play a character such as grindelwald, who was talked about for years in the HP movies. it just didn't match in my head. he's such a wonderful actor though ill always adore him!

Thanks for this recap. My husband wants to watch the new movie in cinema this weekend, but I just can't force myself through the first and second movie. I wish they had actually portrayed the love relationship between Grindelwald and Dumbledore, that way there would have been at least one reason to pick up the movies and actually watch them. And in our present time it would have been just more intense if they would've been more than just 'best friends'. We kinda are over that trope.
