Just watched it, I really liked it. As much as I love Johnny and I hate that they removed him from the series, I personally think Mads fits Grindelwald much better, he's good at playing sinister sociopathic villains, much like his role as Hannibal, there's a certain sick feeling I get when watching it, that I didn't necessarily get when Johnny played Grindelwald. Mads really made me hate his character but love him as an actor for that exact reason.

Mads Mikkelsen is as evil as they come. Johnny Depp is let's say a chaotic evil type of villain. Roles are usually funny, charismatic, outgoing. Mads Mikkelsen literally played a psychotic cannibal in the series Hannibal and succeeeded so wel too. I am not saying I hate Johnny Depp. I just think he is a great actor but often only favored because he is Johnny depp. Not even because he might play roles a little off or succeed but people love him because he is Johnny Depp. He played Crybaby, Willy Wonka, Mad Hatter and Jack Sparrow so well for those who watched other movies, Edward Scissorhands and Sweeney Todd. In my opinion not all movies were succeeding but people love him which is the same as other idols. Mads Mikkelsen is more known in series so because people don't know him well, they throw shade. While he in fact is doing his role awfully great. I just think because Johnny Depp did those chaotic neutral and chaotic evil roles he does those roles perfect. Mads Mikkelsen is lawfully evil which is terrifying in its own way and also perfect for a villain and probably worse that chaotic evil. CHaotic evil have their own pleasure, while lawful evil just do it because it is said so which is often more a psychotic trait while chaos is a sociopathic trait. So try to watch it in a neutral way and people will realize it isn't that much difference from Johnny Depp if not better.

That's the story that's centuries older than the timeline these films are following. These films are set in 1930s and 40s. So, the story of Hogwarts can be narrated as a fable, but not ao much visually in these films.

He's literally UNINSURABLE on a movie set, but no one is going to tell you that bc it isn't clickbait and the fans don't want to be told that their idol cannot be retained because the underwriters refuse to insure him for an affordable risk price. This happens more than you'd think. WBs hands are tied by their film insurance co. and the only time that has been countermanded was when Tom Cruise fired his film insurance co. and moved the cost acctg of it inside Production line cost. This allowed him to do the stunt atop the Birj Khalifa which they refused to insure at any price even 100 - 300 million. So understand they cannot insure Depp on an ensemble cast franchise like that w/expenditures out of control already bc Pandemic delay after the UK Court judgment against him. THAT is why they asked him to step down. It wasn't a morality issue and he wasn't in the same franchise as Heard so it's not about any of that, it's about business, it's about literally the insurance on Depp going off-scale into a price range that would rival the entire cost of the movie itself and they are already into overreach bc of delays. To do so and risk the franchise would impact some 50K or so people: employees, partners, vendors, underwriters, contractors-which make up the bulk of those employed when a movie is filming. Everyone from the camera folks, to kraft service, to carpentry, paint, casting, etc all over the world. The consequences of having been arrested 3x for assault *before* he ever met his ex-wife also figure into this. One of those arrests was for violence against a female romantic partner. The court system is taking that into consideration too and so does the insurance company do that when they calculate costs and insurance policy on an asset. Nothing goes fwd, no filming happens unless insurance of high assets is in place. And that's how movies get made. It's a complex process and like it or not, overreach can effect people's lives who are just trying to feed their kids and hold onto the roof over their head.

I'll admit, I was against the twist at the end of the first one, because Collin Ferrell did such a great job and it felt a bit like a cheap ploy to gain popularity. But Depp was a great Grindlewald. Of course, I love Johnny Deep and I'm sure he would have made an excellent portrayal of Grundlewindle in the third movie (if his situation would have been different) but we should not judge the new actor just yet. Rowling gave such a mediocre material for such a talented actor to work with. Now that Steve Kloves is joining Rowling to co-write the script, there could be a solid 50% improvement than Crimes of Grindelwald. I just hope Rowling's script for Grindelwald to be better here. Cuz it's not just about the performances, it's mostly about the writing of the characters. The second movie's biggest problem was it's screenplay, too many characters and too many subplots that made it extremely difficult to follow. No doubt Mads is a terrific actor same goes to Depp but it all comes down to that screenplay that Rowling wrote for the characters that I hope to be better, that actually does his talent justice. Mads can be good if he was given a great material to work with, just like Depp. So I mostly hope from thus movie is a better screenplay with now that Steve Kloves is joining to co-write the script with Rowling (in which Rowling really needs a supervisor in writing a script), there's hope

forget dumbledore and grindelwald. we want a "the wizard in the hopping pop, babbity rabbity, and the cackling stump" spin-off series. The spin-offs we all deserve.

I can't say this more than enough, but i think this whole Wizard War, Dumbledore and Grindelwald thing should have been it's own movie. Phantastic Beasts and Newt should be what it is: Finding and exploring magical creatures with Newt and his friends. I do not really understand why they had to mix those stories into one... However i enjoyed the movies and this looks great too!

Can’t wait to see it. Jude plays a young dumbledore perfect and Eddie is awesome as Newt. We will see how well Mads does but Depp was just perfect, he had just the right amount of scary and fear with wit and humor. Big shoes to fill for Mads.

Mads is an excellent actor and he has played many villains and always done a great job. I think he will bring the darkness that is needed for this role. I agree with some of the others that Depp was a tad bit too whimsical. Great, really great, but I wanted more darkness.

Mads Mikkelsen is an excellent actor no doubt. He's not the issue. Warner executives are the issue. They presumed Johnny Depp was guilty until proven innocent, instead of innocent until proven guilty.

My heart still aches for Depp and what happened and he was the perfect fit for the role; but I just know that Mads will carry the role through with upmost talent and ability. I love his work and while I wish it was still Depp playing Grindlewald; I certainly think Mads was the second-best choice for the matter.

Actually I always had Mads in mind, I always knew he'd make a way more convincing Grindelwald. So when the news broke out that he would actually replace Depp onward, I was extatic, despite the dark abd disturbing implications the replacement was intangled with. Depp just... didn't feel like Grindelwald to me. At all.
