Josh, you nailed it. AirAsia does not promise the world to us. The vast majority of us will even deplane with a feeling that all expectations were met and more. Unlike the big players whereas we are flooded with skyrocketed expectations, but will find ourselves speechless and heavily disappointed that none of the promises were met, they did not even try.

It's great to see you complimenting a crew. Please send a complimentary letter for her. Being a cabin crew isn't an easy job. Also being an airport staff isn't easy. It sounds easy and people do have an easy perspective of an airline staff. But the job is quite tiring and it isn't as easy as others think/expect.

I don't have a need to fly budget airlines except when I am visiting family in Southeast Asia. Beginning in 2016 I have made multiple trips between KL and Chiang Mai or Phuket, as well as a couple domestic flight between those two Thai cities. I have never had a disappointing experience. The young flight crews have been professional and friendly, but also attentive to safety needs. A special treat for my 12 year old grandson was having a picture taken with three of the crew that were waiting with us at the gate. These three ladies helped make his first Air Asia flight memorable.

The luxury we have in KL are comparatively affordable for Malaysians too considering the level of service you receive. As a Malaysian, the same luxury would cost me more in Thailand and Indonesia.

Living in Miri, Sarawak, since 2015, we use AirAsia often (3 or 4 times a year), primarily KUL, but also SIN, DMK, and a few times to TYO. We never ever had WiFi service on any flights. However, we agree that AirAsia crews are among the best (certainly better than all the North American airlines; short flights, long flights, always happy about the inflight service.

The cost of the meals and upgrades is a massive + on Air Asia too. 16myr is less than £3 or about $4 for Uncle Chins rice. That's about the same cost as a slap in the face on Ryanair..... I've used Air Asia flights 10's of times and never had an issue. Great video as always!

Last year we flown Air Asia Philippines for domestic flights, crew is indeed very friendly. The problem we faced was that Air Asia changed every of our flight (that were booked months in advance) to another time with sometimes not even a day notice, for most of our flights it was not a real issue but for the last from Cebu to Manila it was really problematic. Reaching out to their support did not help at all, had to call Air Asia out publicly on twitter to change the flight to an acceptable time for us.

My favourite food with Air Asia: Pak Nassir's Nasi Lemak (typical Malaysian dish) 😍 But they do have many good food options. Really good value for money. Air Asia never disappointed me either. I'm regularly using them between mainland Malaysia and Sarawak, and it's always a pleasure to be on board! PS: KLIA2 terminal opened in 2014 already. Very interesting review Josh, thank you. I had a lot of problems trying to book Air Asia online from outside Malaysia the last time I tried to use them, so I hope that's been improved or simplified. How did one passenger try to claim the emergency row during rotation? Surely she can't demand the whole row to herself? On an absolutely different subject, I see your trusty check-in suitcase is going strong! What brand or model is it? Airlines seem to destroy luggage very effectively nowadays.

I have to disagree with your comments about Qatar staff. If they aren't getting the rest periods they need, because the airline is demanding they work, work, work (as many commenters did, even going incognito to do so) then they can never be at their best - they'll be tired and tiredness makes you grumpy, emotional and careless. It may not be a simple matter of leaving if they're not happy. Many of them have families who rely on their continued earnings and if they're being worked so hard it may be hard to find any time to search for another job. In addition, do we know if they'll be given sufficient references for that new job? I think this is probably something that's widespread and maybe filters down from a CEO who appears uncaring of the staff as a whole. Your points are fine if they're being treated well, but the workers who commented on your last video makes me think they're really not.

AirAsia just relaunched flights to Auckland and I wanted to do it but the issue is with their limited food selection given I'm a vegetarian and I can't handle spicy food which both their vegetarian meals are. My friend took them a week ago and he said they sell cup noodles on board which I can only eat so much of those before I clog up my stomach. It's a shame they don't offer more options for people with dietary requirements, I would have booked it if that was not the hurdle

I had someone sitting in my pre-selected seat , I was trying to talk that person to move, and a cabin crew stepped in immediately and explained that person to move without a conflict. And yea, food was amazing, I thought they'll go under with covid, but I was wrong, they are back and better than ever.

After flying first with emirates 7 times, Biz Class with other Airlines, and god knows how many economy flights (budget and legacy). I can hands down say they are the best on a cost VS product basis- and so much so, I bought one of their plastic A330-300s onboard. They have so got it right! Just going to put this out here since not many folks know about the background of MyAirline's founder. I have ruled out MyAirline solely on the basis of the company's founder (Goh Hwan Hua). Long story short, the company was actually founded through dirty money from his past ponzi schemes like I-Serve. Honestly, I was shocked when they actually granted someone like him a license to operate an airline given his shady background. This guy is probably as dirty as some of our worst politicians. Imo I think the company should die and the license be given to someone more deserving. It doesn't sit right for me to support a company founded through ponzi exploits. You can search on Google or Lowyat about Goh Hwan Hua about his shady dealings. Unfortunately I cannot directly link to the website or else my comment will be removed.

Good review, however i watched your review of Qatar and agree the staff could have done their job better. I worked as cabin crew for a LCC in Aus for 3 years, back in 2009, I always had a love for aviation as a child and fond memories of flying with Ansett. Telling people that if they don’t like it leave, isn’t that easy… Try working as CC and see how you are after a few months. Airlines need to provide better conditions for their staff. In Australia I was lucky to get a full time position, colleagues who joined after me were casual, their conditions were much worse. The airline ran us into the ground. So many of my colleagues were burnt out. You cop abuse daily, you’re on your feet hours on end, your only seat is the jump seat, some people are arrogant. They have no respect. I don’t know how many times I wanted to quit, it’s just not that easy. We had 30min turn arounds, clean the plane ready for the next flight. You’re not paid an additional allowance when the chocks go on, your delayed tough! People think CC are only there to provide food and drinks. The amount of knowledge needed and training to be current is crazy. In the preflight briefing for the shift you would be asked random questions and had to answer word for word, if you stuffed up twice, off to the line manager. Then someone who is on standby are then put onto the flight. I can’t count how many time I was stuck doing 4 red eye flights in a row, not just one way but return. Sometimes we would be lucky and get the last row of seats to have a 20 min break however we couldn’t then lay down, you still had to say upright. Those flights were 4-5 hours one way. Flying takes a toll on your body not only mentally. I get you fly a-lot, but you’re not CC, you have a seat and can sit there the entire time. I have no idea what it’s like to work for Qatar and the CC have much better rest periods and accommodation. But burnout is a real issue and it’s not addressed, maybe you could look into helping the thousands of cabin crew who are working under extreme conditions. Yes some are lucky and get good layovers and should be well rested. I wasn’t one of them. Maybe do a video on conditions for cabin crew, from ULC to full airlines. Help expose the airlines and the extreme conditions CC are exposed to. You’re an amazing influencer Josh, use that power to help them. 👍🏼

Great comment. I was just curious, how would a company address 'burn out'? They are no advancements to a different kind of job. You are stuck with having to work in the cabin unless you quit and get an office job working in the city. I honestly never was aware of the other job requirements for the cabin crew....primarily to be prepared for an emergency. More people need to made aware of this and show more respect towards the crew. I usually never ever disturb the crew as I realize they have a difficult job but that is not the case with all the passengers. I happened to live next door to a gorgeous flight attendant who told me how difficult the job was, especially since men would purposely ask for things just so that they could get a little attention from her.
@pebbles3458
@pebbles3458 11 ай бұрын
@@Dan-xx5jq company can address burnout by giving ample rest in between flights. In some airlines, crew can fly 7 days straight before they can get 1-2 days off. Then another 6-7 days of flying again. Layovers can be as short as 10hours. So you see, it’s not easy on one’s body. Unfortunately, that’s the case with Qatar. No wonder crew looks tired just like what Josh commented, because they really are tired.

As a pioneer of the LCC model they very much have the business model tried and tested and do a good job at executing it with pace and efficiency, delivered everything i paid for with a good friendly attitude and the flight got away and landed on time. Food is great and everything on the menu is quite affordable. Exit row seat for around an extra $15 turned out to be an excellent decision on the flight and ended up with whole exit row to myself on a pretty empty flight anyway! If i had to resort to nitpicking wasn’t a fan of the hefty credit card fees but oh well i guess they gotta to make/ recoup money somehow!

What I like the most in Air Asia flight is the food. Purchase online even cheaper. Flying with Air Asia actually you got what you paying for. Seat, baggage, F&B, and even red carpet before flight. One the best LCC flight in the world

Note: NOT all airasia planes have WiFi. Most A320neos, A321neo, and their newer planes does NOT have WiFi

Well they change a flight from 2 flights to 4 fights and when I refuse to accept their new flights they said it would take 3 months to process a refund.. but I have heard people waiting 3 years due to COVID and even longer.. what a disgrace airline .and don't get me started on their AI Customer Service App.. I have ended up getting my bank involved in the process of doing a chargeback that includes extra fees with the process which they have to pay.. under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act here in the UK..

yes Josh! 100% agree with u, when will ppl realise that ppl in the service industry are not doing anyone any favors, they are being paid for their work and we are paying for the service. there's no need to make excuses for them and their crappy attitudes.

I always fly airasia when I go to SEA. The food is actually soo good! I got the plant based prad ka prow and it was really spicy - I love how they didn't make it bland for a western palette

Disagree with the comment about staff being jet lagged and exhausted "not being an excuse". It absolutely can be if you're being put on too many shifts or filling in for a colleague or something. It's such a privileged thing to say "if you don't like it you can just quit your job anytime" like those aren't people with kids to feed and bills to pay. For all you know, they're looking for another job but hold onto that one because they have to. I'm personally very grateful that I have a job where I don't have to be fully alert and smiling for hours on end and I feel bad for overworked flight attendants working for shitty airlines but who are still expected to go above and beyond.

So customer shouldn’t have any expectations for their hard earned money they spent on flights? Airlines are no charity and in times of global labour shortage there is enough work for everyone. When I lived on the street, I didn't pity myself but tried my best to find work so I can get out of my miserable situation. Easy as that.

@@JoshCahill My perspective is that it's up to the airline to provide training, good working conditions and fair compensation. I'd tend to blame management for the staff's poor performance. A global labour shortage gives staff more leverage to be demanding from their employer. I know that I personally can only get screwed by my employer so many times with scheduling and nonsense before I start to build some apathy. As for your "easy as that" solution, I don't know, it doesn't sound easy to me.

I fly airasia once and it has the best crew ever. It was really memorable flight that one. Hope that airasia could do some long haul flight too. Unlike my experience with klm which the crew shouts at me just for asking more apple juice 😅

Recently flew AirAsia from DAD to CNX with wife and 4 yr old. Good flight experience. On time, reasonably comfortable for budget airline. Good food and choices. My only beef is their online reservation system. extremely clunky, kept crashing, and when I eventually did manage to make a booking, it refused my US credit card. I called my bank and they removed all “security blocks” on the card and it still was not accepted. I eventually had to make the booking through a third party online agent which accepted the card no problem.
