I want to share my review of the Fantastic Vent 3350 because my experience with the fan is anything but fantastic. I bought mine 18 months ago, as friends, who have an older model, said it was very good. However mine makes a lot of noise and pushes so little air that I can barely tell if I have it set to exhaust or blow. If I turn it up to get more airflow it becomes even noiser! The rain sensor closes the vent at night so I can only assume that it senses the night time moisture and closes even though it is NOT raining. My friend's older model seems to push more air than my newer model. I get much better & quieter airflow from my little Sirocco fan and it was only $!60 not over $600. Dometic agreed to replace the fan and the airflow improved a little but it is still very noisy AND the rain sensor closes the fan at really odd times like late afternoon. So we can't use the fan unless we manually open the cover. So in summary, I have found it an appallingly poor performing fan that is just not worth the money.

Jan I’m sorry you don’t like your fantastic fan. I read an incredible amount of reviews for the different types of exhaust fans for RVs. I did read the rain sensor was a bit sensitive but I liked the idea of having it in case I leave it on and a crazy rain storm blows big rain through the vent and into our 5th wheel. I got the rain hood to help limit the sensor’s sensitivity and be able to have the vent fan on during light rains. It has only closed on us on one occasion, a very warm windy rainy day. It is a bit noisy, I agree but so was the twenty year old one I pulled out before it stopped working. That was another reason I bought the one I did. It gives you about ten different speed settings to choose from. I usually put it on at 60% and it runs quite enough to forget it’s on. Some times it is hard to tell if it is working but if you open a window at the opposite end of the RV and on the cooler side, driver’s or passenger’s side, we feel a rush of cool air coming through the window. With the vent fan on the ceiling, it blows the hottest air out first and eventually will cool your entire RV. If it’s warm inside and I want to cook with my air fryer, I open my kitchen window and turn on the fantastic vent fan. The air rushes through the window, past the air fryer and out the vent taking the hot air from the air fryer with it. I love it! Maybe adding a rain hood to your vent fan would help prevent it from closing automatically so often. Try turning the speed down so it’s not so loud and open a window on the other end of your RV. Hopefully you will feel better about your fantastic vent fan. Thank you Jan for your comment. I wish you the very best luck dialing in your vent fan.

my fantastic fan looks just like yours and acts the same as your old one did. did you ever figure out why it acted that way and didn't open up? i need to try to fix my FF, hopefully it's just a part or something.

I started taking it apart but could not get a good view to see anything related to the cover opening. I figured I would have to remove it from the RV roof and really take it apart to see anything. That was when I decided to stop and replace it.
