This was another very enjoyable reaction and analysis. As you already know, Diva Dance is originally a song from the classic 1997 sci-fi thriller “The Fifth Element” starring Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich. For the scene, the song’s composer, Eric Serra, designed the piece with the intent that it would be impossible for a human to perform the high-pitch staccato sections. He had Inva Mula-Tchako, an Albanian opera lyric soprano, sing the notes individually so that they could then be arranged digitally and recorded. In the movie, this song is “performed” by an alien, Diva Plavalaguna, played by Maïwenn Le Besco. This is from Dimash's Bastau concert. The staccati are reminiscent of "The Queen of the Night" aria from the opera "The Magic Flute." I wish Dimash would perform that vocal masterpiece once. She even managed to sing some of the low notes. Dimash is the only male vocalist I know of who has performed the song exceptionally well, and in my humble opinion gave a superior performance. He is explained first by genetics of a family talented in singing and instrumentalist. Second as a toddler he was pitch perfect, his grandma started out pressing piano keys and he would make the sound, he was the youngest ever accepted into a esteemed music school at age 5 and now he is doing his thesis for a PhD in music specilizing vocals and of course has become famous around the world with a sung range of 7.7 octaves G0-D8 which I contribute to all of the above and a physical deformity that lets him have such range, that being his vocal folds are abnormally large.

He explained in an interview that while his speaking voice was changing at puberty, he never lost his child’s voice. So at wise counsel of his mother and teachers they trained both voices. I’m sure glad they did! 😀

Dimash is the best vocalist Ever. He did this half a step different than the original that was aided by computer and done in pieces. Dimash is the only one I have found that is basically exactly as it was written which it was supposed to be impossible to sing.

She really just has such a unique sound that I really felt like I wasn't really ready for her. Dimash´s version is somewhat simplified in certain parts. The descending coloratura is modified from the original. Not even Dimash can do the fast octave jumps required. He can do impressive octave jumps, yes, but not at that speed. On the other hand he sings the final part an octave higher than in the original, and he finishes with a D6 instead of a B5. Dimash singing this song is most impressive but it is not the original movie version.

No human can sing the original version since it wasn't composed for a real vocal apparatus. The audio was a mix of a woman's voice with computer generated audio in those difficult parts you mentioned because the song was composed for the alien in the movie, not for a human. Call it the creativity of the 5th element producers combined with the marvels of technology. Anyone attempting to sing it would modify the computerised parts to perform diva dance for a more realistic i.e human effect. And D ofc knocks it out of the park!

Well considering the fact that the original the notes were done individually and then combined digitally. So to call this impossible maybe true but people that have tried to mimic the original have done it but it has not sounded terrible in my opinion. Dimash modified it smartly I might add to fit his voice and make it cleaner. It is by far the best rendition of the song that I have ever heard and definitely the closest to the original just my opinion.
