Welcome to Arizona! You made it here before it gets really hot! We used to see how many of these scorpions we could catch as kids. A type of contest if you will. No, no one was ever stung. It was fun and we found a good amount even without a uv light. Millipedes and centipedes were bonuses, lol. Have fun and be careful. Rattlers are out too! Gl&hh

Scorpions have very poor eyesight. They hunt by feeling their way along. When exposed to UV or full moonlight (glowing) they do their best to find cover to avoid predators who would like to chow down on them.

Hey Beau, another great video! The rule of thumb for scorpions is that the larger the pincers, the weaker the venom; species with big claws, after all, can snatch their food without completely paralysing it first. So, I guess those that you have around you, are quite deadly... watch out!!!

The cactus is called jumping choi cactus. You can chop off a section and burn the needles with a fire or lighter. They are good to eat and good source of water. Geronimo evade the cavalry in the desert by surviving on choi.. The cavalry ran out of water.

let me tell you a story about a scorpion named Fred! once upon a time, there was a scorpion named Fred and he decided to go swimming in my Grandma's pool and I spotted him so I decided to get my dad to remove him and cut off the tip of his stinger. we thought he was dead... but he was just in hibernation for two days. most of us that were at my Grandma's house touched him including my little cousins and they are only 9 and 7. I took Fred into the room my grandma was letting me and my brother stay in. two days later my brother said the scorpion isn't in the cup I put him in. naturally i thought he was lying because that's what brothers do. he said he wasn't joking but I still didn't believe him. then he turned around and said where's the scorpion. and then he looked down and there it was. I thought he put it there but when he blew on it the tail went up and he blew on it again it moved. I freaked out and my brother got my dad who then flushed it. and I didn't want to walk or sleep in that room. FUN FACT!!! scorpions can live up to 48 hours under water!! stupid Fred why didn't you die!

Those clinging cactus are a pain in the butt... The little things cling to you if you brush up against them. The little ball things on the end come off to grow a new cactus wherever it lands. The solitude and view are worth the risk! LOL Keep it up Chigg, Good Luck & Happy Huntin'

Hi it's Jamie, one of your biggest fans and lesson takers. Love your scorpion video. I have property in Goldfield Nevada and come across the Giant Hairy Yellow scorpions in my prospecting and relic hunting adventures. Pretty neat critters huh? Next time you come out West poke around Nevada. There's untold amount of mysterious and lost history there. I would think that you would love it and if you'd like an adventure partner I'll be spending the next year or so out in the very northern tip of California. Going to metal detect old gold mining camps and prospecting. I'll pay your gas if you come!!! I've done the research on lots of things including a lost buried crate of winchester rifles out there at a old stagecoach post. I have FULL access the property and can take you to mind blowing back mountain gold areas where the handful of people that still live there have to backpack a two to three day hike during bad winters just to get supplies. But the history is untouched and just waiting for you to make new videos. There's also an old 1850's Native American battlefield that is yet to be discovered and I got a little more than a hunch were it's at!!! Please come exploring with me, I am no expert but promise an amazing time!!! And like I said I will pay your gas money for you.

OMG the scorpions. I lived in a house in Mesa, Az, in the old orange groves. The scorps loved living in and around my house, and I was terrified of them. They would be inside a closed dishwasher, inside any clothing left on the floor, drop out of AC vents...they could go anywhere.
