In this video i show you a fantastic trick how you can keep the perfect angle during the sharpening process. I will also explain you why I not only make pushing strokes when i sharpen a serrated blade, but also sideways movements.

Having declared my dissatisfaction with this sharpener last night kzbin.infoUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ I thought about the problem some more. It occurred to me that I might be undoing each attempt at achieving a sharp edge by the repeated attempts. So, I tried to clean up the unsatisfactory result by honing with only positions 3 and 4.Miracle!! A really nicely sharpened chef's knife, more than enough to handle my needs. Admittedly, it did not reach professionally sharpened razor-fineness, but it is now significantly sharper than it was. A bout of breaking down carrots convinced me. So, major apologies to the manufacturer, Amazon, and all happy and potential owners! Follow the directions: don't buy it if you have ceramic blades; and don't overwork your knife blade.

Great vid bro. People are afraid of serrated. And they say, it's not useful. I have cut a seat belt, on an upside-down car, on fire. Serrated, made a fast job of it. Like you showed. It's not that hard, to sharpen. And don't tell, a boat men. Or a diver, serrated is no-good. Thank you, for your video.

For fibrous materials serrated edges take the cake! On condition you have the proper sharpening tool with you, I favor a serrated edge vs. a plain one for edc. As far as a defensive purpose is concerned, serrated edges will create a much more devastating cut vs. a plain edge (all other things being equal). Nice presentation by the way!

What a performance! No way, Jose! I'm done with serrated knives! They are just far too much finicky work to sharpen. It's just so much easier to sharpen a straight edge occasionally and have done with it. It is also much nicer to cut with a sharp straight edge, especially a medium done Ribeye steak! It just seems to taste better! ;-) 🤣

I like your videos. They always show in a good way new things to learn. And even, for those things which I know already, it shows me that I'm on the right way. I will adapt the trick from this video also to sharpen the kitchen knife (using a helping tool to hold the knife in the right angel) And: I like that you use simple handworker tools (not many modern unnecessary machines) and sure, I really like your Swiss accent from the Swiss Knife Valley ;)

Another great video Felix. I use the Lansky Blade Medic that you showed, for my serrated blades. I have always just held the knife with the serrated edge facing up and tried to match the angle (similar to the technique for field sharpening a straight edge blade). It works ok but I will definitely give your technique a try…it looks like it will give a more consistent result.
