About Wyll: I've played as Wyll as origin, and played with Wyll the whole campaign without taking him out. His story is definitely finished if we are talking "being able to finish and he has an ending to his story". Wyll as origin is huge main character vibes and really enjoyable if you play as Wyll. As companion... I would say, that besides lacking some interactivity in later parts of the game, having some objective bugs in later parts of the game (more of annoyance, but still), lacking some romance content, he is just vanilla generic hero companion, unlike the rest of the group. But, he still has plenty of the story and interaction, and it finishes... one way or the other ;) Also, Wyll was changed from early access, completely, because in early access no one liked Wyll as companion and considered him boring. Larian formulated it poorly what they did with Wyll, which they said "re-written Wyll", and now internet thinks that it was last minute (it obviously wasn't, which was confirmed by actors, writers, different Larian employees). But now a lot of people believe there was amazing Wyll in early access. There wasn't, Wyll suffers the same fate as The Beast from previous Larian game Divinity Original Sin 2, sadly it is their thing, not all origin characters work well as companions, and not all companion work well as origins. The relationship with WoTC and Larian are overblown by the Internet and conspiracy groupthink on the subject of "no expansion, no DLC, no BG4" and Larian moving on from DnD, and thus WoTC IP, completely. It has been almost 7 years them working on the game, including 3 years of early access, they are just moving on (and they never do DLCs/Expansions anyway).

@@lydlbutton damn, that's quite in advance, I guess I way behind and have to catch up Yeah, camp interactions are great, but honestly, after playing 4 times, it feels like they are more or less addition/supplementary to what's happening in the world/exploration. In order to experience origin/companion story fully you sort of bound taking them in to the world, and since it is not a mission/quest oriented game, but much more of exploration oriented, player sometimes left with the feeling "oh, I should've brought X in here" (and it is usually correct, but you can't bring everyone). It is alright, adds to replay value, but you just can't experience the story of any companion in camp only. Like, during my 1st full playthrough I barely took Astarion anywhere, since my main was a rogue, and I didn't really experience what other people describing on twitter or elsewhere, how amazing his story was (I saw like 20% in camp of his story). What you describe, having set team and experiencing set companions properly is better than switching and experiencing 30%/50% of in camp/few in world interactions. Them being origin characters means they all could be played as main and even have unique scenes, interactions and so on, as main, that player won't see otherwise (Gale and Lae'zel have the most, I think). It means they are all main characters of the story, and thus not really companions... it is a bit weird to wrap a head around, because they still work mostly fine as companions IF you sort of go with them fully. That's my subjective opinion, ofc. In their previous game Larian did a cut-off of companions down to only active party after act1, so there was no switching and companions at all, only chosen party, each other companion "died" after act1. And in BG3 they wanted to do the same, but decided not to, but in my opinion, design, and approach to companions stayed. Anyway, sorry for longread, enjoy the playthrough :)

I was a necromancer for my first playthrough, so Gale spent the entire game in camp. For me it was Shadowheart (the only cleric and first healer), Astarion (the only rogue), and Lae'zel (sorry Karlach, by the time I found you I was attached to the cranky lizard). We became Team Questionable Choices, with the dude surrounded by the restless dead as the moral center of the party. 😅
