As a Greek, all of the Iranian people I have come across always treat me with respect and are often delighted to know that I am Greek, praising our two civilizations. I did not know that modern day Persians view Greeks as friends and allies. I was surprised knowing that our two civilizations have been fighting each other from BC and then after that for an additional 600 years during the Byzantine -Persian Wars. I hope our cultures continue to flourish!

I was surprised how the two cultures, food, habits and even the looks on people's faces were similar when I visited Greece. In history, we always hear about wars, but we never hear about the time of peace, which is as important. That is when people meet, inspire, influence and learn from each other.

The architecture of the mosques originated from the Zoroastrian fire temples ( originally four vaulted square room with a circular dome) which during the Sassanids era the corner of the square was modified “nitch” to convert the square base to a octagon bellow the also modified pointed dome creating an continuous line towards the infinity point of the dome. Representing god. These pointed arches some 200 years later was adapted and incorporated in Gothic architecture. The Islamic conquest which happened after the dark ages and worldwide famine has always been a question of where the budget and the know how came about in teaching the Arab nomads? Ctesiphon the capital ( another wonders of the world) was the 1st and largest arch standing till today! They burned the library 200 years prior burning the library of Alexandria. All and all Persian philosophy, mathematics, and science, and arts in general was in general the heart and soul of the so called golden age of Islam. Furthermore to know the Middle East really well is to know Persia really well for its past endless history!!!

It was at the hands of the Arabs and sinking into the dirt and mud of the Abrahamic/Arabic/Mongolian invasion.

Persia is the name of Iran. The people called their own country Iran since the ancient times, to the foreigners it was called Persia due to Cyrus the great being a persian ethnic king and created the empire. From 1935 Reza shah king of Iran/persia asked the foreigner countries to use the name people call it which is Iran and both name was used until the islamic revolution 1979.. Both should be used if you ask to me the same way Egyptians call their country Mesr but to the world it is known as Egypt! One day, hopefully!
