Full Video Description:
One of the missions of Fanward, and my partnership with them, is to hightlight great fan art, and great fan content. The 6th Ranger definitely falls into that category of awesome.
I recently came across The 6th Ranger, a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fan KZbin channel created by Jake Rogers.
I watched a few of his videos and was really impressed with his production values and the level of detail he put into his work.
I especially enjoyed his video on the Omega Rangers, which gave me a whole new perspective on the team.
I contacted Jake and asked if I could react to one of his videos, and he graciously agreed. It was a lot of fun to watch his videos and see the hard work that he puts into them.
I encourage everyone to check out The 6th Ranger and support Jake in his efforts to create great Mighty Morphin Power Rangers content. Thanks for watching!

Where the boom comics have taken things has been an absolute blessing to MMPR, the Omega Rangers being one of the top highlights. Shout out to writer Ryan Parrot who has done glorious glorious work over the past few years writing the books (this past week issue 100 came out as his last work on the series) and Daniele Di Nicuolo for designing those sublime suits. Omega Now, Omega Forever!

So, to cut it short. Drakkon is an alternate universe version of Tommy who remained evil, instead of turning good. The reason why there's two Tommys is because Drakkon wanted to eradicate all the other Tommys to ensure that he was the only Tommy left. (Yes, it's very weird. But hey, it's a comic book. They do that with doppelgangers all the time.) The last one, the one we all know and love, is killed, but later comes back. (Read Shattered Grid and Play Battle For the Grid, for more context.)

Thanks for making this video Austin. Love MMPR and as an OG fan, I’d strongly suggest reading the comics from the start. I found that the writers Kyle Higgins and Ryan Parrot and the artwork were amazing from the start. If you ever were into any power rangers IP but especially the 1st MMPR, you will enjoy the story, art, and heart that was put into the pages of the comics. Whoever decided to give these books the green light are a genius as I feel the books really embody the characters/heroes we loved back in the 90’s and gifted the series with new life with refreshed and well thought story telling and artwork that have pulled many fans back in. If you ever wanted to learn more about Jason, Tommy, Zack, Billy, Kimberly, and Trini you get it in these books. Hope you enjoy reading them as I did. 🥋⚡️♦️📚

Hi Jason I been a fan with my daughter since The original cast of MMPR she only 2 years old at the time when we heard about MMPR. Her playmates in preschool where acting as each rangers so that afternoon we made sure to watch it and we got hocked. We are hoping to meet someday the OG rangers we meet JDF last year now we can't wait to meet the rest. Thank you for being such a great guy to all out children and help them grow to responsible adults.💜

7:28, coming from someone who is behind on the BOOM! Studios Power Rangers comics, and is also a Final Fantasy fan of sorts, hearing that Zack's cheek got cut here reminded me of another character named Zack, specifically from Final Fantasy VII, who also got cut on the cheek. The circumstances differ, given that FF7's Zack (whose full name is Zack Fair) was literally fighting for his life when his own cheek got cut. Given that I haven't seen the moment for myself, I kinda wonder if Zack Taylor's scar on his cheek is cross-shaped.

Of course the other Rangers called Jason away from a confrontation with Tommy. Even the comics (which are awesome) like to keep that "Who's really the better of the two" thing going. Also it seems like all the Team Tommy people conveniently forgot that Jason already defeated Tommy fair and square, one on one at the end of Green With Evil AND he did it against a suped up version where Tommy not only had his regular powers but also was fueled by the Sword of Darkness. 😉

Okay Austin, here's my recommendation for how to read the Power Rangers Comics in Chronological Order: Go Go Power Rangers #1-20 and Forever Rangers (GGPR Special that continues the story of GGPR #20) Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1-30 and Shattered Grid Finale that finishes off the Shattered Grid Storyline *Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #31-39* (This is the Beyond the Grid Storyline that I put an * next to meaning it's optional (The MMPRs aren't featured at all and it focuses SOLELY on the Solar Ranger) but it's up to you whether you want to read Beyond the Grid or not) Go Go Power Rangers #21-32 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #40-55 Mighty Morphin #1-22 and Power Rangers #1-22 (These happen simultaneous to one another so I'd recommend reading them at the same time to get the full story. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #100 Hope this Helps :).

I myself as a power ranger comic collector that rather keep the comics in top condition rather then read them also utilizes the volume novel books so that I can still read and enjoy the stories while keeping a good collection of comics. That being said my suggestion would be to first pick a spot you might like to start from in the comic line and go Vol.1 and you will find the first few comics within it. You can do this with Omega series first or any Ranger story arc you wish. And remember to first and foremost enjoy.

The comics were pretty good for a while but despite not having read most of the other ones, they eventually lead to a Ranger character that is pretty much death embodied. (Think of it like DC Comics Black Lantern Corps = which embodies death, but with Power Rangers). Concepts are not the problem, it's the writing.

Yeah, particularly after Shattered Grid and when Higgins left. The writing isn’t really THAT bad to be honest but post-Shattered Grid they’ve struggled with pacing and juggling their ideas to make a really strong, cohesive story IMO.

I watch his channel regularly. Does some pretty good Boom Rangers coverage. A few key details here are glossed over though that are important: - The Omega rangers are one of the first ranger teams ever & they existed aeons ago and are considered legends. They are incredibly powerful and are basically the 'special ops' team of the ranger lineup. - The reason the Blue Emmissary commissions Jason, Zack & Trini to become the new Omega rangers is directly a result of the fallout from the 'Shattered Grid' arc. Jason is hand picked by the Emissary to lead this team as he's a natural leader. Basically the morphin grid is damaged and this has resulted in random beings around the universe getting super-powered and going insane from morphin power they can't control. It's the job of the omegas to travel the universe, find these beings, and tame/fight/capture them before they cause greater harm. - Kiya, the blue omega ranger & fourth of the team is the first 'morphin enhanced' person that Jason, Zack, & Trini locate and have to capture, but the three plead to the blue emissary to not capture her as she was simply frightened and is a good person. The emissary agrees and due to her bond with the three, makes her the fourth omega ranger. They train her up. - The team travels the universe and does a good job tidying the universe from all these 'morphin enhanced' crazies. Trini also tells her stories of all the bad guys they've fought, including Drakkon; who almost destroyed the universe. Kiya is shook by this. - In a chance encounter after the Omegas lay siege to lord Zedd's fortress and Jason knocks him out, the MMPR teleport to the moon to see with their own eyes that the Omegas took out Lord Zedd. Kiya runs into Tommy who is now the white ranger. Kiya confuses Tommy as Drakkon and attempts to take him out, but is held back by Trini & Zack. the MMPR, who don't yet know the Omegas are their old teammates, stop celebrating Zedds defeat & assume defensive positions and get ready for a fight, when Jason as the red omega orders everyone to back down. He explains to Kiya that Tommy is not Drakkon, and he is on a path of 'light', and is not the threat that Drakkon is. The Omegas, then leave. - The Omegas eventually go back to their home base; a planet called 'safe haven'. It is here that Kiya discusses with her team & the blue emissary how dangerous it is to just leave Tommy to his whims, as even though he may be 'good' right now he has it within himself to be another 'drakkon' and they are leaving a really big risk on the table. Jason explains to her that he knows Tommy well as he is a very good friend and fought and defeated drakkon and so can tell the difference and the risk is nil. - Kiya contemplates this more on her own when she is approached by the Blue emissary. he tells her not to worry as he knows all, and if he had any doubt at all about Tommy's goodness, he would never would have given the 'white light' (the source of Tommy's white ranger powers) to Zordon to give to Tommy. Kiya is shocked that it was the Emmissary himself that gave such power to a person who posed a big risk on the universe and it is here she has a misguided epiphany: The emissary and her fellow ranger friends are misguided, naive hypocrites. They talk tough about capturing and detaining 'morphin enhanced' beings (which she is one herself), but the moment a close friend of theirs is the target, they throw their own rulebook out & make excuses to look the other way. With this, it is not people like her that are 'threats' the universe, its 'power rangers' who seem to make up the rules as they go along. - With this revelation, she powers up and kills the Blue Emissary by stabbing him in the back with her ranger weapon/trident, then sets a trap for her teammates as they are not worthy of being the peace keepers of the universe anymore. She doesn't want to hurt her friends, but she now believes that 'power rangers' are the problem; and not people like her. This sets the stage for the rest of the story arc.

I think of it like this: If the Morphin masters are gods, then emissaries are like archangels. They carry out the will of the grid and seek to protect life.
