In Somalia, FAO is implementing cash assistance with training and supplies that equip farmers, pastoralists and fisherfolks with tools to rebuild the livelihoods.
FAO’s integrated cash programme in Somalia offer training and tailored livelihood packages for communities that help to boost food production and restore livelihood assets. The integrated approach includes crucial interventions to support livestock health, provides tools and seeds to farmers and offers key equipment to fisherfolks.
With Funding from USAID, pastoralists were provided with emergency livestock supplies to help increase productivity and veterinary support to protect their animals from diseases. Community trainings ensure people can optimise their livelihood support packages. In 2020, FAO reached nearly 1 million people in Somalia with cash fully delivered by mobile money and at the same time delivered support and through education and equipment.
