Far Cry 2 - Ambient Sounds (4 biomes)

Got a request for this. So I made a video with the 4 types of biomes and their ambient sounds.
1) Desert - 0:00
2) Savannah - 5:00
3) Jungle - 10:00
4) Woodland - 15:00

Far Cry 2 was by far the most immersive game in the series... in my mind 3 had the best combat, but 2 had the best atmosphere. The newer Far Cry games are fun, but part of me does kinda miss the old, more realistic and immersive style of FC2 - like how you often had no HUD whatsoever, and to view the map you had to pull out an actual physical map and still be playing the game. In Far Cry 2, no matter how powerful the weapons you got, or how comfortable you were with the game, you always felt underpowered... Far Cry 3, 4 and 5 use stealth and combat as a power fantasy, but in 2, it was as much about your own survival as it was about killing your enemies.

Completely agree with you; unfortunately, very few people take those aspects into consideration. To me, an excellent atmosphere together with immersion and realism are much more important than being able to fly some helicopter or whatsoever. They don't make games like this anymore.... that is the sad truth.

I love far cry 2 for that and I really hope far cry 6 brings back a lot from far cry 2 like gun jams

The far cry nowadays turned more into fast food. Like a Fortnite on a Jungle with wannabe superficial gangsters. But at least I can enjoy a bit the landscapes but the interaction didn't improve much and quite strange

@@dieterrosswag933 that’s a very apt metaphor, friend! the newer fat cry’s show you everything they have in the first few hours to keep you engaged, while Far Cry 2 is like a fine wine - you keep finding more hints of hidden flavours the longer you indulge yourself with it

Well, that's probably the main reason why this is basically the only game where I do tend to travel on foot quite a lot. Much better than annoying car sounds.

+ getting nailed by constant car patrols. walking, unlike damn near every other game I have ever played, was my preferred way of getting around in this game. the sights and sounds just transferred me into a different place entirely.

Yeah, they did an amazing job with this one. Everything in Far Cry 2 was aimed at great immersion and the ambient sounds are a prime example of that. Glad you like the video. :)

I wish they made a rebooted version of this game with all the native African wildlife, such as the Big 5. The African white rhino, African lion, cape buffalo, African leopard, and the African elephant. With giraffes, ostriches, hyenas, hippos, mosquitos, zebras, and all other African wildlife in my opinion.

This is wonderful, thank you, the best kind of homage to a one of a kind game experience. I reflexively find myself waiting for the sound of an incoming jeep to shatter the peace but nothing can beat roaming the deep ambience of FarCry2 ❤‍🔥❤‍🔥❤‍🔥
