Far Cry 2: retrospective, review and critique. (updated)

Every criticism you have, I've had for years. Fallout 2 is a good tech demo, and that's about it. People love the difficulty, but I see the difficulty as "The AI has cheats" as opposed to "The AI is better". I can rant about how video game AI basically always knows where you are and that stealth elements are a lie because the game nerfs the AI by telling it not to engage you when you're not in sight, rather than telling the AI to engage you when you're within sight. Hence why in FC2, and up to FC5, the AI will suddenly attack exactly where you are if you so much as breathe funny.

Playing farcry 2 made me love it compered to farcry 3 and 4. It has a unique survival in dire situations type feel. Its very cool and unique compared to the later ones. I felt it was simpler and better. After passing it, which i been planning to do since 2015. Then going back to farcry 3. I realize farcry 3 and 4 are the superior games so far for me. I've only played up to 4 for now. Makes me wonder if I should even try the newer ones seems like it would be a repeat of 3 and 4.

When it comes to far cry, and really just Ubisoft in general, they've found a format and formula that works for their games and tend to sell well. You will therefore see rather little variance in most of their series, and if you are getting a bit tired of it I'd recommend reading a few reviews to see wich titles are more outliers in the otherwise rather rigid formula they use.
