A "sniper rifle" without a suppressor is counterproductive. Sure, you can take down a target although at the expense of giving away your approximate, if not precise, position. Btw, suppressors don't make weapons quiet as is often seen on TV. They do, however, help mask ones location since the sound is far more diffuse, making it difficult to pinpoint.

A sniper rifle is just a colloquial term for a precision rifle used by a sniper. The current US sniper rifle system (the M24) doesn’t even have a threaded barrel. Also, the only way that you’ll give away your approximate position is if the opposition already knows your general location, and if you stay there then your a shit sniper.

@@TheAleutiansolution Yes, I'm well aware of that. Why do you think I put term "sniper rifle" in quotes? And by the way, remaining in a position is not always counterproductive as long as it's not compromised, and there are myriad ways of achieving that, one of the most fundamental being use of a suppressor since they help mask ones location.

@@cassiespencer6134 Your argument is that Snipers need to use a suppressor to hide right? That isn’t true. Suppressors are very rarely used in combat. To a Sniper, accuracy is paramount and above all else. Suppressors affect accuracy more than anything, if they’re properly hidden then it would be more of a detriment to use one. Additionally, the range at which those rifles are typically used completely negate the use of them anyway, the only thing that will be heard is a very slight pop in the distance and if there is any sort of background noise, then that pop is lost, further removing the need for one.

@@TheAleutiansolution I'm afraid you're mistaken with regard to some of what you said. Furthermore, you're being condescending and in effect inferring I don't know what I'm talking about. The fact is suppressors are commonly, if not always, used by snipers. I never claimed they were used in combat in a general sense. I was referring to snipers, specifically. Lastly, I have an extensive amount of experience with them.

@@cassiespencer6134 Suppressors are rarely used by Snipers, having extensive experience with using one doesn’t make you right either. If you do actually have experience using them then you should know just how much they affect the accuracy of a rifle.
