I was comparing you to the becker videos and I fell asleep to the becker one. I love your energy. I'm a lazy reader and by watching your videos, the readings from my intermediate accounting courses are now very clear. Once I'm done taking my three accounting courses which I lack to sit for the exam, I will be using Roger CPA review for the CPA exam. Thank you Roger. Special thanks from Syria (I'm Syrian btw) so be proud that your videos are now being famous in the Middle East and many other places as well. Thumbs up!

Wow ... Gleim leaves out a lot of helpful details. I should of bought Rogers CPA review. Gleim doesn't even mention that the Equity Method could be called One Line Consolidations. Gleim Doesn't even use real life examples. The Gleim Book is ok... but it has very brief explanation and answers are vague. I thought Gleim would be more comprehensive but it is not. Its like trying to learn accounting from Cliff Notes. Well im going back to smashing my head off my desk. I might develop brain trauma before I get my CPA license. I want everyone to know this, when buying a CPA review course the material is the same .... its a STANDARDIZED exam. But what course presents the material the best and in the most depth? Rogers hands down. Gleim is good if you were an A accounting student fresh out of school with great retention. Roger is good if you spent your entire college career drunk then by the grace of god got your degree. You realized 10 years later you want to get a cpa license.... Your screwed ... no you are not buy Rogers Course. When I finish Gleim I might buy the Roger Cram Course...

Thank you so much! Very helpful way of teaching .. great job. But i think the answer in question 5 is C not B, because 20% to 50% is under US GAAP not IFRS.. Once again, thank you so much!
@UWorldAccounting
@UWorldAccounting 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris! You are absolutely correct. This lecture was published to KZbin in 2013 and since then, we have had some significant changes with IFRS. In the updated materials. under GAAP and IFRS, the equity method is applied when an entity has the ability to exercise significant influence over the investee. Under IFRS, that is considered to be the case when the investor as the power to participate in the decisions of the investee. Therefore, like you stated, under US GAAP, ownership of at least 20% but no more than 50% would be an indication of significant influence unless other factors indicated otherwise. Thank you so much for your comment and for watching!

so.. cost method for none publicly traded company and fv method for publicly traded company? is treatment the same for both ? only terminology is different ?
@UWorldAccounting
@UWorldAccounting 7 жыл бұрын
Generally, the Cost Method is used when the investment is 0% - 20% which implies that no ownership over the company exists. 20% - 50% calls for the Equity Method. When securities are available for purchase, then that means that the company is publicly traded. The Fair Value option is an election a company can choose instead of the Equity Method. This approach is an advantage to companies as it is easier to measure, but does not get as much testing on the exam as the Equity Method does.

Shouldn't PP&E be recorded as $150/10=$15 x .3= $4.50?????
@UWorldAccounting
@UWorldAccounting 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Diana Hernandez! Such a great question. The reason PP&E was not further reduced by the percentage of ownership is because it was already taken out. Starting at a little bit before 10:11 two versions of the same calculation was shown. On the left, the FMV was 3,000, Book Value was 2,500, and the difference between those two was 500 which was PP&E. If you multiply 500 by 30%, then you arrive at 150. Therefore, you wouldn't want to multiply it again by 30% after dividing it by 10 years, because you already did it. On the right side, he broke it down in more detail to arrive at 150. On the right side, 750 (BV: 2,500 X 30%) is subtracted from 900 (FMV: 3,000 X 30%) to arrive at 150. So, on the right side, the 30% ownership is already considered as well. Let us know if this helps to clear things up! Thanks for watching! #HelloCPA

I want to finish all 4 sections of the CPA in a span of 4 months-- June(dead) to the end of September. Is the Roger CPA Review Course flexible enough to achieve this? I really want to finish my CPA before starting work in October!
