Not sure why so many comments focus on his age - his playing is still top-notch! I love Mark’s tasty licks during the verse and chorus. We should appreciate this treasure while he’s still shining

That Red Les Paul has been a witness to many legendary milestone in history of music. If only it has a mouth, its storytelling will be much valuable than most of todays music.
@davidharding9665 жыл бұрын
Gregorio Abad III for me its a shame that he discovered the les paul...the single coil, second position Stratocaster sound was his ala Sultans of Swing. He owned it wholly and solely and he was phenomenal on those first 3 records (even though at some point it became a Stratocaster copy).

I actually posted Once Upon A Time In The West live in Barcelona a few days ago on Facebook. It had th comment that in my oppinion most songs kind of lost their power and fireworks during the last couple of years of touring and that i was very surprised how good song the fitted him at the moment. His voice and singing were perfect and his guitarplaying was just excellent in this song. Again with this song, i expected something that had his best day a long time ago, but i gave it a try and again i was very surprised with the tempo, the fireworks and the power. Why stop now!?
@fosdyke714 жыл бұрын
Age slows all of us a little but don't ever underestimate how hard it is to play that riff and sing at the same time, and he still did it effortlessly

@@theonewhoknows2 at the time, no i wasn't. but for the past few weeks i've been doin' some stuff on the balalaika (a ukrainian guitar/ukelele hybrid thingy) and yeah, now that i do play a stringed instrument, it brings more meaning to the line. but at the time i wrote the comment, the line just really stuck out to me for a weird reason that i just wasn't able to identify.
@theonewhoknows25 жыл бұрын
@@returnofthedoggo7994 that's awesome man, for those who don't knowe what he's referring too which I know you pigeon or may at least guessed or understand now is if you play a acoustic guitar without nylon strings , or play electric guitar like mark with no pick consistently, you will get blisters on your fret hand and strumming hand. I don’t understand why there is always people in any comment sections just looking to prove their points and to be “right” about something. Mark is one of my idols and reasons to actually pick up a guitar and learn it. We all know his stage mannerism and “lazy” style vocals.. we all know this song is performed originally on les Paul... no body is complaining about anything, we are admiring his willingness to be on the stage and keep going , despite his ageing.

1) This song was played on a Les Paul from the beginning. 2) Mark was never a frenetic frontman, his stage mannerisms look the same as always. 3) He's always had a Dylan-esque approach to his live vocals, even when he was young. Sounds perfectly normal to me. Any other complaints? 😉
