Your videos have motivated me to built a recumbent under-seat steering scooter. I may look you up and come out your way to show you what you've inspired. I am not new to electrically powered vehicles. I've built a single wheel pusher bike trailer with 52V battery 2000W controller and 1680W hub motor shopping cart basket. A 4 - person pedicab using a boat trailer mountain bike and differential axle. Makes me much money in the summer. Booming stereo, and tips only. Drunk people can be generous. Electric low rider scooter (Daily driver). Electric drift trike and more. Everyone wants me to build them a drift trike.

Really appreciate this one. I purchased the same QS 273 8000w and 850 Fardriver controller (except I went with the 96v model ND96850). I received my QS motor, controller and DKD display from China and they came with no directions at all. There was a basic wiring diagram on Alibaba but it was really confusing. Thanks so much, you did a great job explaining the connections.

Ok the negative wire goes to display only power wire go from switch to display and back to controller orange wire to turn on both display and controller

Can I ask how you went about this? Did you just solder the wire from the switch and the display together and then solder the wire that comes from your connector to that, or did you use connectors?

That pink wire goes to my ignition, but at the top I had to reverse the wires to my display it was on all the time. At the on/off switch

Can I use a fardriver controller with a geared 1000w hub motor? I can probably turn off the regen off on it. I would like to use a 72v battery with it.

I have 2 new controllers different brands and says rated at 26 to 33 amps -. It has 3 speed wires but there is no change when hooked up on either of them. actually one of them when set to low the motor just jerks and dont spin. I checked the board they are wired correct. These controllers have 100v caps so I am keeping them anyway. Have any idea why? They are not or need to be hooked to a display to work. Should I just shunt mod to get the amps up? I Can hook a amp meter up to check amps when on bike and under load. Battery is only 20 amps 40 amp bms.

That is very interesting, the jerking sounds like a low voltage, hall sensor, lose connection or bms I would put a check voltage or put a Amp clamp on and see how many amps the controller is pulling

Oh yeah I highly recommend it I just went with a different controller, I still have sabvoton controller on most of my bikes.

@@E-bikeguy Nah, it's a tuff looking build as awesome! I placed an anti heat reflector on my Mukkpett battery of one side vinyl and other side is the reflector side. Jus cosmetic but knowing me I'm always needing things to be practical of not overloading parts ,devices, boombox lol, not, ect.

It's all in the one yellow wire it reads everything I was a little confused and impressed at the same time

The light blue wire from the FarDriver sends out LIN communication protocol (AKA YXT, which is Chinese abbreviation for ONE WIRE FOR ALL). If you connect that to the correct wire on a display that supports XYT (the Yellow wire in the case of the DKD display), it sends: Speed signal Gear selected EABS (brakes applied) icon Motor Fault icon (such as disconnected hall sensor) Whiskey Throttle safety icon (if you twist the throttle and then turn on ignition the motor wont run but you get the throttle icon) I think it also supports the clear fault button which will restore operation in cases where a temporary fault shut down the controller. I have a $20 display which shows all these features. What I don’t know since my display doesn’t have a current meter is if LIN (YXT) sends that data. We will know as soon as the first test ride. If not, that might be only with can-bus data from the BMS or controller. To get full access to the $200 DKD you need to use the can-bus and a battery with a BMS that can report its data on a can-bus. Then you will get true SOC of the battery (like a real EV). With LIN the controller sends no battery information so its just up to the display on how the voltage from the battery is interrupted. My display has digital voltage displayed plus a worthless battery meter because it can only be set for 48v/60v/72v lead acid and no way to change it for li-ion or LiFePO4. But the DKD will let you set high and low on the battery meter. I imagine the high price also buys some quality that my $20 display lacked because the “headlight on” LED burned out after about a year and its not so important that i want to buy a new display just to get that feature. Lol

@@E-bikeguy , the “headlight on” LED burned out after about a year but everything else still works since i installed it November 2021. The YXT data came as a surprise because I initially ordered the display because the original display had no speedometer, odometer, or voltage. Then I replaced the original generic controller with a Votol EM-30S. Then i saw in the programming i can choose either “one-line” or “hall simulate”, so I connected the speed wire to the hall/YXT input on the display (instead of the phase wire for speed which is another wire), and suddenly all the Icons showed up on the display.

Turn your e-brake on and save it also make sure your low brake switch is connected it should work if all this is working. If not then something wrong with the controller itself

Yes it connects to your brake levers when engaged your regen will be on. The connects are purple and black two of them on controller

You have the connections the wrong way! You have the female on the battery; this is bad as the terminals are exposed and can easily be shorted. The male end with the green resistor should be on the battery, and the female should be on the controller without live power.

@@E-bikeguy of course, but it’s for safety. It makes it way easier for a short to happen but of course if you’re careful enough you can keep it alright, just one more thing to think about. Keep it in mind in the future though, don’t want to do that for a customer.
