I was at this show with my daughter, her first show! When they struck first note of Shakedown Street...she had the happiest expression on her face I have ever seen...and she started to Dance!!! The most beautiful memory of my life!!

Hard to fuckin beleive this is going on ten years ago now. Holy smokes does the time fly. Lot of joy in these last ten years, lot of sadness too. The music maintains as a constant through it all. Same as any old friend or family member, the music will always be there . My how the time flies.................time is a thief, and a villain..

Hearing Phil recite bird song was one the most beautiful moments of my life. This recording can't do it justice. The way Phils voice hung in the air, such timbre - I dont think we have the technology to capture such a voice. The way he carried "Rain" in "I'll show you snow and rain" stole my breath.
@Johndoe-gd4tb5 жыл бұрын
i wasnt at fare thee well but i know EXACTLY what you're talking about. theres something other wordly about phils voice on certain words and lines in certain moments in live songs these days. people who write him off as a bad singer dont understand
@Johndoe-gd4tb5 жыл бұрын
a good example is when furthur would play brown eyed women. when he comes in to sing "and it looks like the old man is gettin on"....its just way too perfect

While surfing through you tube Fare ye well vids, dog steps on keyboard and up pops these vids! I have the 'box set' and was at the 4th of July show. These vids are SO MUCH better than the box set!!! Went to show on a 'miracle' friend gave me that I hadn't seen since being inducted in the Army 1973! Watched the 4th of July show yesterday, vets day, and as the show did that day, this vid did the same...erased all the troubles in my head and gave me that feeling that can only be had at a "Dead" show! Now to scan the crowd and see if I can find us!...BTW, the 2nd miracle of the show was seeing Trey, who used to live up the street from me here in VT. Never had heard him or his band before, though like me and the Dead, my son drooped out of H.S. and hit the road with the band. His lead on "Standing on the Monn" had me as tearful as the first note of Shakedown...Thank You again!!

Trey grey up playing GD covers. GD was his first love. For him, playing these shows was not only an exceptional honor, but the culmination of a lifelong impossible dream. Watch his face, and you can see the immense enjoyment that he is feeling at every second. He is living in the moment, doing his very best to honor this music with every fiber of his being.

If only this incarnation of the bad would do a who nationwide summer tour for their 60th anniversary. They only have three more years to get ready. Sure Phil will only be 85, but he can still play 240 minutes a night. Thanks for making this available.

Phil is done touring, he'll play shows here and there with Phil Lesh and Friends but it's unlikely he'll ever tour like Dead & Co. I saw him play last month and he's aged considerably in the 7 years since this show was filmed.

@Nemanja Kuzmanovic perhaps he will play out a little more since his restaurant/venue is no more. He did some shows in Chicago and maybe elsewhere prior to his run at the Capitol Theatre out East. Too many wasted years, after Jerry passed, where the guys squabbled and killed the "magic". Fall/Winter 2002 was the best Dead related show I'd seen since 1990 with Brent. Perhaps 2002 Fall/Winter sounded so good because I was not only dosed, good bud, imported hash oil but several other types of pills and powders. mostly to treat chronic issues, but I'd overindulged and was having to tweak this to balance that, and I might've been picking up odd frequencies and vibes. I loved that Hunter performed through the set break and later on Phil delivered a Terrapin that gave a new spin to how I interpreted the Lady With a Fan lyrics. Maybe I still took it close to the usual way but it felt like new secrets were being revealed. The 2009 Dead shows felt lifeless to me but I also wasn't dosed properly that year as a medicine I was on interfered with psychedelics. I don't think most people realize that Phil was or potentially was dealing with cancer during this time in 2015. He looked a lot rougher than I remember him a couple years later.

Yes. A band called ‘Circles Around the Sun’ Shapiro the promoter commissioned them to make original set list music. That’s when they started as a band and they continue today despite losing their guitarist, the great Neal Casal. Peace, Starwind

How about not lecturing me on my opinions. I have a perfect right to express myself based on the 1st amendment. I am sick of stupid snowflakes like you sounding holier than thou. Once I was talking to Jerry + he said that people hear a difference between the Dead's music + the crap that say Aerosmith puts out. The theory of cultural relativism has been relegated to the scrap heap of history. So put a freakin sock in it .
