the music track itself is an 8-bit cover of ''Don't you worry 'bout a thing'' by incognito, which is a cover of the song ''Don't you worry 'bout a thing'' by Stevie Wonder. but the vocals are the lyrics for the japanese folk song Kokiriko Bushi.

Omodaka's 21st-century disco version of Kokiriko Bushi - an ancient folk song that Gokayama (Toyama prefecture) villagers used to perform for the local Shinto deities - combines synthesized vocals with a Stevie Wonder-ish bassline and '80s video game chiptune sounds. Happy now?

That's because kokoriko bushi is an old folk song or something, but it's definitely old. Omodaka's take is a mix of sorts.

I bought both. The original seems to stick more closely to the 8-bit sound, and the video remix uses some nice sampled drums. I prefer the sound of the remix to the original, but I appreciate the original for purity of the 8-bit instrumentation. Still would like to hear an uncompressed version. Can't get the CD in the US.

chiptune music is so great.. its so simple in its sound, nothing special about it, which leaves it up to the music to make the piece satisfying. Its such a challenge to make it sound creative, with only four tracks (usually) The low bass and the vocals sound great! And for those of you who find this annoying, well, this music grows on you.
