Farewell of the Bird
Many years ago, you were so fierce
Overbearing and leaving no room for others
I didn't dare touch you, fearing your sharp beak
You were proud and arrogant, like a myna
But you only called out,"yo yo yo" again and again
I even wanted to cut off your tongue
Just to hear you speak human words
Your eyelashes were long, stunningly beautiful
You always stood tall, never bending even in sleep
I couldn't help but wonder where your legs got their strength
Amazed to discover your skill
Spinning in the air like a graceful butterfly
I proudly showed you off to the people
That day you fought a rat and got injured
My heart ached, regretting not helping you in time
I hated myself for not rescuing you earlier
You were so brave, I admired you deeply
Later, I personally poisoned that rat
So no one would disturb your peace again
Yesterday, after your bath, I sent you back to your nest
You leaned weakly against the cage bars
I could finally stroke your soft feathers
For the first time, I touched you properly
And you, didn't move at all
You seemed so strong, but you were always enduring the pain
Yet you quietly left, without a sound
Leaving me immersed in endless memories
