Farewell to Stromness - Peter Maxwell Davies

While touring over the past couple of weeks I had the great pleasure of accompanying the wonderful Women in Harmony choir in their Sing to Save Lives concert, which commemorated the 200th anniversary of the RNLI and raised funds for their incredible work.
I was asked if I'd like to provide a piano solo for the programme and as I had lots of rep on the go anyway I was of course more than happy to oblige. I went with Peter Maxwell Davies Farewell to Stromness in the end as it's first and foremost a wonderful piece that far too few people are familiar with, but also because I've always gotten a very nautical feel from it, especially the middle section which reminds me very much of rough waves. All that being said, I thought it was fairly fitting given the theme of the concert.
