Scenes from the Lady Victoria Colliery in Newtongrange, Midlothian just before it closed for good in 1981. The colliery is now a 5 star visitor attraction, National Mining Museum Scotland, telling the story of coal for Scotland.

Whata lovely film really enjoyed it but alas very sad times i worked in industry for seventeen years enjoyed every minute and i would go back tomorrow if i could.

Really enjoyed this as a miner from north Staffordshire. Western Are had the last mine to run its winder on steam, Holditch. There is something very human about steam.

Nice documentary of Scotland's rich mining history. Our nation owes much to these hard working men and women (and even children in earlier times.)

My old man worked there..moved to England 73..north notts coal mines needed man power..lived at Drum cottages
