Before all this quarantaine... I attended YCS Bochum, I had Fossil Dyna on the field and my opponent wanted to Kaiju it. I Kindly explained that he couldnt do it. I called the head judge cause at this point the palm of my head was reaching the backside of my cranium. I know I’m late to the party, but I also wanted to say that, before he attempted to use ash blossom, that he didn’t indicate that he wanted to respond. Instead of saying something like “thinking”, he stayed silent for 15 seconds and then declared ash. I don’t know if he was afk or just on his phone or whatever, but his inaction to say anything for 15 seconds PERIOD should have honestly been a red flag for the judges. I don’t know why they didn’t ask him why he didn’t say anything for 15 seconds.

So this is how I would interpret this: from your opponents view, he would see you exit the deck and assume you waited for response, as the deck doesn't obscure chat. However, despite the fact that their was a misunderstanding, I think it's not ridiculous to expect the common courtesy of someone to respond with at least a "think", and since he did not, it should be fair to decline an activation of ash.

Dueling Book is a tough platform. Most judges would rule that your opp has plenty of time and there are issues with flash player lagging, etc. It's best to say "think" in response to something.

Talking is important, but understanding the limitations of playing online is important. Irl, your opponent may stroke their chin for a second as their way of "thinking" and going straight into the deck as soon as you activate an effect probably wouldn't be tolerated.

He wasn't wrong in this case. This was a very technical problem and the judges handled it in a bad way. If the time for response is 15 or less second on dueling book rules then if the opponent doesn't chain anything is their fault, it doesn't matter if you stop for a second to read what they are saying, the effect already went through. Or would you say that if someone where to use Lightning Storm and you were already putting your spells and traps in the graveyard then you would be allowed to say "wait I had a counter for lightning storm within those spells!"

I mean it prevents more arguments down the line. If you think you have interruption, just say hold on. Like they can't fault you for thinking it over and learning interaction. Fifteen seconds is ample time to Ash or Veiler or whatever. If for some reason he thinks he can't, don't be specific to give away card knowledge, but just be like "Im reading the card and" and encourage them to explain to you what the next step of their combo is.

This is one of the reasons for EDOPro. If the opponent takes too long, he gets time deducted from his turn. Also the opponent directly gets shows "would you like to respond to that yes/no", that leaves no ambiguity.

The opp even says he went straight into the deck to resolve needle fiber and it's funny how you didnt post the moments that led up to that and how long it took to respond shoot as long as he didnt see your monster that ur summoning off fibrax ur good. And if he did it's super arguable that u just played very fast...

lol at judges thinking waiting to respond doesn't matter in a combo deck. Remember Konami literally hit cannahawk because ritual beasts take so ridiculously long to do their normal combos. Time absolutely matters lmao

This is why it's a bad idea to play Yu-gi-Oh online. The game needs so much interaction that you need confirmation on everything. And Project Ignis is not good too, since it reveals your hand's information to your opponent just by pausing for response. I miss my local :((
