The interaction between Wade and Jerry tells you everything you need to know about their relationship. He doesn't like him or even hate him - infact even worse Wade has no regard for Jerry as a person , he tolerates him purely for his daughter's sake . Truth is this mirrors how most people in the film - with the exception of his wife and son see Jerry as ( a meek and somewhat incompetent man , who's neither likeable or destable). They initially listen to what he's about to say , but when he stumbles over himself they react with either confusion at best , annoyance or even anger at his bumbling incompetence. Harvey Presnell was brilliant as Wade Gusterson . Wade's an arrogant hardass and a bit of a jerk - which is actually what makes him such an enjoyable character.

The best part about this movie is the whole reason behind Jerry needing the money is never revealed. Classic.
@hoarder19193 жыл бұрын
it *is* revealed though, they just dont shove it in our throats. Jerry was involved in some kind of fraud and stole some money. In a bit more detail, he seems to get money for selling non-existent cars. The company he sold the cars to is now wanting the money back because they can't find the cars' serial numbers. So Jerry needs the money to return them to those he conned. the real question is that why doesnt he have the money he stole, where did they go? He doesnt seem to be a money waster, he doesnt do drugs or hookers or expensive cars so where did it all go?

@@kh_qft762 no, we just dont know what he needed money for initially, before the crime (and before the movie - thats important). But we do know what we needed the money for IN the movie. And the answer to that is: to cover up his initial money fraud.
