I remember cringing when I first heard they were doing a Fargo tv series, that there was no way it could live up to the movie. I have never been so happy to be so wrong. The series is excellent (haven't seen season four). I'm sure Brandon will enjoy it

For example i think overall it's heavily bloated and we don't get a chance to get to know a lot of the characters, but there are many moments in the season i really love. It's frustrating because somewhere in that season is something great, the black and white episode imo being one of the best in the series. It's like having a plate with really good steak but everything else on said plate tastes from bland to gross

*Coen Brothers Easter Eggs* - Malvo is played by Billy Bob Thornton, who stars in the Coen Brother's film _The Man Who Wasn't There_ - Malvo echoes _No Country For Old Men_ 's Anton Chigurh: Contract workers who seem to be more like an otherworldly force, operating at a higher level than those around them with their own distinct codes, with weird hairstyles. He also absorbs Buscemi and Stormare's characters from _Fargo_ (the film). He has Stormare's threatening demeanor, but wears Buscemi's coat. This is all remixed in the opening night car scene - Malvo hits a deer, Stormare runs witnesses off the road. - The dynamic between Molly and Vern mirrors that of Marge and Lou in _Fargo_, but the genders and roles are reversed. Vern is the more experienced of the two and is expecting a child. His wife's hair and design echoes Marge from the film. - Lester's call to Malvo mirrors the way Jerry practices his fake kidnapping call in the film - Colin Hanks, who plays Gus, is the son of Tom Hanks, who starred in The Coen Brother's _The Ladykillers_

I've always wondered what billy bob thorton's character saw in Lester. Him connecting to and involving himself in Lester's life is the biggest mystery of this show for me.

I think Malvo realized that Lester was on the edge and just a little push would make him explode. We know he collected recordings of the people he interacted with calling him after they ruined their own lives. He probably realized Lester could be another fun recording to collect.

@@oliver4705 - Don't get me wrong: I enjoyed Season 3. However, I think that there were a few middle episodes that dragged just a bit. Whereas seasons 1, 2 and 4 were incredibly tight (in terms of writing), Season 3 just had a very good beginning and a very good ending.
