Farida Nabourema | Faure Must Go

Farida Nabourema uses her blog to expose the corruption and oppression of the Faure Gnassingbé regime in Togo. She recounts the actions that her led to her start the Faure Must Go movement, which has galvanized tens of thousands of her followers to hold people in power accountable. Nabourema urges the Togolese people to keep advocating for freedom, and encourages others to support their struggle to defeat one of the oldest dictatorships in Africa. The Oslo Freedom Forum is a global event series presented by the Human Rights Foundation (HRF).

How loud should be the cries? How deep should be the pains? How long should be the sufferings? How dark should be the horizons? For some on earth before they can be heard? We have the house of slaves at Togo, at Agbodrafo, a city in front of the sea, to be more precise Then after we have the colonial episode. That has ended supposedely in 27 Apil 1960. In 13 January 1963, the President elected has been killed, the first deadly coup in Africa history. Then we have entered into a period of a tyranny till nowadays. Those who support the tyranny today, are the children of those who have been the colonists, and the colonists were the children of those who have been the slavers. Thus, some on earth are condemned generations after generations, centuries after centuries.
