On our first episode of Jazz on The Sofa, we welcomed Fariz Rustam Munaf (Fariz RM) as our speaker and Oomleo as our moderator. This episode specifically talks about Fariz’s journey in the music industry starting from when he was little, how he became the founder of Jazz Goes to Campus, until how he managed to achieve countless music awards.
Our speaker, Fariz Rustam Munaf or popularly known as Fariz RM (born in Jakarta, January 5, 1959) is an Indonesian musician, songwriter and singer of Dutch, Betawi and Minangkabau descent, West Sumatra. He is the uncle of Indonesian actor and singer, Sinna Sherina Munaf.
Our moderator, Narpati Awangga (popularly known as 'Oomleo') got his degree in Prints and Printmaking Department of the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) Yogyakarta, before finally deciding to join the collective ruangrupa (Jakarta) in 2002. Oomleo utilizes digital art media (pixel-art), while actively involved in various online radio streaming (RURU Radio) by organizing music events, workshops and other activities in the urban art scene. He's also a member of the electro-pop band Goodnight Electric, a radio announcer, an illustrator, a column writer, and a traveling karaoke program DJ (Oomleo karaoke).
