Your absurd dry humor always makes me laugh out loud: the Indiana Jones edit, the way you made me sit on the edge of my seat to see if you'd overfill your glass of brandy, the dramatic reading of the Japanese text about helping someone find the bathroom (which, also, good job localizing that to sound right without being strictly literal), it was a great video. I'm always glad to see one of yours pop up in my subscription feed.

It's interesting how Farland Story 1-3 is something of a trilogy of games that all build off each other while 4-6 are largely independent and self contained. Still they seem to have not run out of new gimmicks and ideas on how to keep things fresh from game to game. Even if it means stretching the games basis in medieval fantasy further and further each time. I'm glad you've kept up with the series, watching it's evolution has been a treasure.

@@BasementBrothers I think the translation to FS6 call him "Hugh", which makes a lot more sense than "Hug". It's possible they meant "Hugh", and just misspelled it in Japanese(?) Heheh. Interesting theory. "Hug" is a weird name. Sticking with the katakana, the only other possible interpretation would be "Hag", which would be even worse. Another thing that supports the Lupin connection beyond the Thief and Rival Inspector aspect, is Zero being a excellent marksman with a hat, kinda like Jigen. If there's a line in the game about him aiming along the brim of the hat, that confirms it. Though I think you're right to say Zero is likely meant to be more like Indiana Jones (then again, a lot of Lupin movies wind up playing out like Indiana Jones movies anyway). (its pronounced "Loo-pahn" BTW since its a French name and French makes no sense)
@BasementBrothers11 ай бұрын
Yeah, I've always heard most people pronounce it "Loo-pin" in English, so that's what I went with.

@@BasementBrothers It's a common mistake, don't worry. So here's a thing for a possible future episode: the Master of Monsters series. I'm curious how different they are from the one that got released stateside on Sega Genesis.
@LupintheThird11 ай бұрын
@@BasementBrothers Loo-pahn (an old Japanese interpretation of the French pronunciation) has become the standard pronunciation for the English dubbed versions for many years now, but I find it's often pronounced Loo-pin by people who only know about the series peripherally. After all, that's how it LOOKS like it should be pronounced, right? Another nod to Lupin: among Zero's weapons is a P38. The German pistol Walther P38 has been Lupin's signature weapon since the 1971 TV series. They even mention it in the ending theme! Fun video. Seconded on the comment by @KingofCrusher: it's refreshing to have someone who can read what they're playing. I only know a little, so all the story would be completely lost on me if I played this.

@@BasementBrothers thank you for your reply. So i see it is based on a 486dx33 processor apparently. I was asking because seeing the battle animations they look like their are in super fast forward mode. Or is it something to be set in the options, like the speed of the dialogs?
@BasementBrothers11 ай бұрын
Yeah, I talked about it in my First Farland Story video. The battle animations can be set to "normal", "fast", or "off". In my opinion "normal" makes the game take too long, and "off" is just boring since you miss out on all the funny battle animations - which are maybe the main draw of the game. "Fast" is the perfect compromise and that's how I always prefer to play these games.
