Every line of fences must have 5 parallel lines of redituable kind of trees, to avoid soil degradation, erosion and for the enrichment of the land (every falling 🍁 fertilizer the soil) any tree atract the rain, stop the winter cold, maintaining humidity; at the beginning, it will see apparently a bad idea but in a few years... all the investment at least 5 times recovery, compare the value of a tree with the value of 🌽...

I realize overgrown fence rows sap crops. I also realize you are not old enough to remember the 1930's. Read a little history. WIND AND WATER EROSION. Thin the windbreak. DO NOT REMOVE IT. There are far too many Iowa full sections (640 acres) with not one fence or tree. I have also seen 4 foot deep road ditches drifted level full with wind eroded top soil. I realize folks farm to make a living. Cash income should not be the only consideration. STEWARDSHIP in the long run means continued income for years to come.
@iowANFarmer4 жыл бұрын
That is a problem on flat land country. But here we don’t have big fields like that. We don’t do fall tillage, to prevent wind erosion. We also build terraces and put in drainage tile to give out ground the ability to hold the rain when it comes. We are focused on stewardship. Overgrown and neglected fence lines come from a lack of stewardship.
