With high inflation, Laos is smart to grow your own food. Here in the USA, food prices are expensive. I spent $76 US dollar for small bag of grocery from Safeway store. It's usually cost me $46.

Howdy Todd,,great version of Purple Haze! Covid does indeed suck. Glad you and Neenee are well on the mend. This vid was full of my faves. Markets,,cool,amazing houses,,,pretty country,,and sweet,,kind,,friendly Lao people. The woman at the table with the white head wrap,,she looked to be pretty sparkly! One of the field girls was cute too. "You handsome man ",, so that's how you win your way across Lao? Lol. The Brahma farm,,interesting they called it a ranch,,somebody must have been a fan of cowboy movies. Lol . Looking forward to the road trip, will be interesting to see. Did you ever find out which strain of covid you guys had? Well,,stay safe my friends,,Ttyl,,,Marlon

Hi Todd. I love the 'Sunday drives', always so much to see. The houses you showed us at the start are amazing. When I got home home from my travels I came home addicted to strong coffee with condensed milk (Vietnamese coffee...but obviously not exclusive to Viet Nam). Have you told Neenee that the 'Sunday drive' is a favourite Aussie past time? Cheers and have a great day.

Even the footage through the built up areas/cities seem to exude a chilled sorta vibe,done well Todd ,thx M8 Ron

Thanks Tod, for yet another epic local adventure. We are always watching your vlogs and enjoy them immensely. We're in far western NSW, so the oceans of green and the mighty Mekong are always great to see. We only got to Nong Khai last Thai trip (pre-COVID), but I'd misplaced my passport so we couldn't visit Vientianne.

Where you stopped to check out the house, is Ban B'Or. My wife lived in Ban B'Or around 2006-07, behind the temple that is on the right. The house she was house sitting for friends, backed onto the Mekong with glorious views and shared a fence with the temple. Our very good friends live in Ban B'Or also, on the opposite side of the road to the Mekong. The road has always been shite, and is still shite. Also, the owners of a Thai/Lao restaurant that used to be in the 'Gong were also from Ban B'Or. Small world. Todd,, a bit of trivia. Behind the "clock tower" round about on Thadeua Rd (left takes you to the Friendship Bridge, right to Ban B'Or), is the College of National Defence (Laos' version of Duntroon). Before the Pathet Lao took over and the US closed its embassy in Vientiane in 1975, all that property used to be a large gated community for American Embassy personnel and their families. It was like a mini American town within Vientiane.

Proper lane exploring there mate - I do the same but on my bike, just wandering about and seeing real life away from the city, but like you, only 15 minutes away - its crazy the speed at which it changes from city to village aint it. I love the way the people get so chilled out of the city - the universal language of a smile and signs, cos they just look daft at my attempt at Isaan Thai lol. I love these vids on "whats on your doorstep". I dont know why but the Mekong looks so much better from the Lao side. Songkran is similarly dampened here too, so we are off down for the annual Kanchanaburi trip - chilling on a riverboat for a few days then off to pay respects on the railway - hopefully the authorities will allow the Oz army guys to lead the services this year. Keep the beers on ice mate, wont be too long till the bollox is eased.

Hey Tod, white pine needle tea and dandelion leaf and root tea will fight and prevent covid. My family and myself aren't vaxed, my daughter has asthma and got mild covid, but the rest of us have been exposed many times and never been affected. This has become a very common occurrence in Australia of late. It seems the vax has made people more susceptible to covid, but l think it also depends on your health status 🤔

@12:08 is that background noise a type of cicada/insect or is that something else entirely?
@chrisperkins73312 жыл бұрын
Hi Guys The grasses they where shredding where either elephant grass (so called because the elephants can hide in it) reaches 2 meters in a couple of months. It could also be Israeli AKA sweet grass but that grows at half the speed. The mangoes are called mango apples, and come from Thailand.

Please tell me, did you have to register your drone to fly there in Laos? I also noticed that in some videos from your trips to Thailand you fly your drone there, and registration in the land of smiles is really a pain in the arse, did you bother to do it, or just taking your chances?

Red mangoes are good - but there hundreds of varieties of mangoes, though not many varieties are grown/sold in the west. The “wild mango” I had in india looked like a Kiwi, tasted like had a little lime & marzipan/bitter almond. Gorgeous. This video kills me Todd - you saying only 20 minutes to the city⁉️
