This can't be right: the replacement part fit the first time. No, my friend, when done properly, an equipment failure should require either (a) at least 3 trips to the parts store or (b) one trip to a medical facility. You didn't even bother to smash your knuckles when removing the retaining pin on the sway bar. Amateur. ;) Love the sponsorship, though.

Oh I have had this happen. Builds character. My Mexican friend of years used a herbicide sprayer with gasoline and it worked on the first try. Trick is even distribution and atomize it as much as your sprayer will allow, and only one pass around, then IMMEDIATELY lite it. On my second flat he wasnt around so I used a tie down strap, a big one, got it so tight it pushed the bulge sidewall enough to get a close but not total seat, the air compressor was just enough to get it started and wha La. We all appreciate saving money on our back tires. I have found Continental Tires spring out to the rim naturally much more than any other especially Goodyears. Im 62 and been running 3 point hitches since I was 12. Keep it the way you have, safe and adjustable on demand. We are all very fortunate, but we are also smart, a smart set of videos you have. Thank you.

Now you know how farmers get furrows plowed in their brows... :) You actually did a fantastic job making this video interesting and funny to watch John. I was totally interactive with this video..gasping, laughing and saying "oh sh...t" when you lit the tire up... The air cannon was cool :)) I really loved that the tire was full of beet juice instead of toxic crap. Great video to prove to your customers...that you deserve more than every penny you make! lol Great presentation; I love your heart, loved your sense of humor. I'm a old gal & I doubt I'd ever be running a tractor, but I loved this..and I'd watch it again! :) (specially the air cannon!)

Why are you using beet juice for ballast? We always used radiator fluid. Make your own. 50 gal. water 5 gals anti-freeze,mixed in a barrel and pumped into the tire with the valve stem at 2 o'clock position.leave room for air,anti-freeze keeps it from freezing in the winter. Also if you have a puncture, you'll smell anti-freeze at once. That my IOWA farm tip

I think you need to swap the left wheel with the right and vice versa so the valves are on the out side, that means jacking up the whole back end and only undoing the 6 bolts around the rim not the ones in the centre, This way your Tread will still be in the right direction and the Valves will be where you want/need them and just use water as ballast, personally I don't now why you have that in there That is mostly used on Backhoe's etc and for use in steep ground, Anyways get your self some good Ratchet straps and a good portable compressor and you will be able to handle that job next time, Well done for trying so hard, It's not easy when you are new to this stuff, take care and good luck, Thanks for posting the video.

I think that grass is a little strong for that topper. I've used them before infact I've used a 8 ft behind a fiat 110-90 and it's still a pain to cut. I use a disc mower instead very easy ran and light and cuts it nicely

Next time you have the tires off. Weld a piece of pipe around the valve stem just tall enough to prevent this from happening again. Make sure you remove the valve core before you try inflating in that situation. Last time I delt with that the yellow jackets swarmed the spilled beat juice. That was a freaking joy!
@farmmarketing
@farmmarketing 7 жыл бұрын
Good idea on the valve stem guard. That'd be tricky where it is but worth while. What a mess with the yellow jackets, haha. I'm so sorry to hear that. Occasionally I run over ground nesting hornets' nests when I am mowing. For the most part the noise and heat of the tractor confuse them and they can't find me (open cab).

A couple of days ago I sheared off a front valve stem whilst pushing brush piles into the woods. I should have put the bucket on, but used the narrow pallet forks instead. I ended up lifting the front off of the ground with the forks, and driving backward using them as "skis" until I was on level ground, then I dropped the front axle down and turned the steering to break loose the tire from the rim. Then I jacked it back up with the forks, pried the tire away from the rim with a huge box end wrench, replaced the stem, soaped the rim, dragged out a portable air tank, and Bob's-yer-uncle.

I made it sound like a quick job, and it may have been, had I found that NOBODY keeps the big valve stems (for liquid filling) in stock, not ever TSC. They do keep the filler kit, and several other types of stems, in stock! The local Tire Discounters gave me a truck valve stem (as in free!), which is in there unless I decide to put beet juice in the tires. So my less-than-one-hour job was 40+ miles of driving looking for a valve stem, and four hours overall. Still, I wasn't in the field as long as you, and I can't get more than 1,000 feet from my house no matter what!

I must have done something wrong, or there is some factor I missed. The bottom of the tire still had beet juice weight in it and perhaps that was it.
@robertveronda4225
@robertveronda4225 7 жыл бұрын
John Suscovich watched it again and I think it might have been a combination of not getting the either more inside the tire also you only need to spray it in one spot (that's what works for me) and not igniting it fast enough. Didn't hear a whooshing sound from the rapid burn off, but that might not have gotten picked up on the audio! But who knows that beet juice in the bottom might have been enough to keep it from seating again, even the guys air cannon had a hard time. All my employer's were cheap and used water. When it happens again (it will sadly) lift it and try it again just for the heck of it. Oh how much did it end up costing you for the tire guy? Did he charge extra for him getting agitated, he didn't look to happy! The fire stick was smart by the way, watched one guy use his Bic and he lost his arm hair!!

Water would freeze in the winter so I don't think that'd work. That and getting that tire and rim off and to a place that could reseat it would have been a job. I'd still have had to go to a specialty place for tractor tires because your average tire shop couldn't handle it.

should have just used a good 5 ton floor jack and place it as close to the hub as you can. Its what I use when I have a flat or a tire that comes off the rim. I have NEVER seen a tire come off the rim like that from a buildup of grass, and I have had tractors a long time.

@farmmarketing
@farmmarketing 7 жыл бұрын
My thought was that the 3 point only has strength pulling up and that it works off gravity going down. With that I wouldn't have a good way to pick it up because there's no pressure to push it up. The jack ended up working alright. I guess there's more than one way to do it. You've used the hydraulics in the back to lift the tractor up though? I'd be very interested to hear.

Great video! I hope you bought 3 of those replacement stems once you found them! Also hope that the stem guards have been welded into place by now! Valve stems on the inside of the wheels?? Hmmm. Is that an actual Bush Hog that you have? Looks like it. Everybody calls all rotary cutters Bush Hogs but it's actually a brand name of implements built in my old hometown of Selma Alabama. Yet, that Selma Alabama. You know you have a good product when the name actually becomes synonymous with the product and becomes it's identity. Kleenex, for example.....aren't all tissues "Kleenex?" Probably a southern thing, but pretty much all soft drinks here are "Cokes." Just like all brush cutters are "Bush Hogs!" Oh, by the way, I played for Bush Hog in little league baseball....

Thought it looked like a Hog....call Bush Hog in Selma, (800) 363-6096, and see if they have recommendations for a skirt. Fortunate to get that last valve stem! Should have bought lottery tickets that day! I imagine you've grabbed a couple more by now.....enjoy the channel. Wish I could get hold of some of your brew! Don't think it's made it to Alabama yet.....

I think you should pay more attention when mowing the gras. Look more over your shoulder to see if everything is going right. And as mentioned before, you really should remove your adjustuble top bar and replace it with a heavy chain. You never have to adjust the pitch of a bush hog, because it should always be flat on the ground. You can lift it up or down, when gras becomes to tall, but adjusting the pitch is not neccessary. Nice tractor by the way :)

Did you ask the tire guy why they put the valve stem on the backside of the back tires? If so, why?
@tinkeringtrucker5196
@tinkeringtrucker5196 7 жыл бұрын
tim johnson, the valve stems are sometimes inboard on the tire depending on the track width setting of the tires. there are about 12 ways it can be configured to achieve different widths. one of thos adjustments is moving the wheels from one side to the other, which put the stem on the inside.

john, you should check with your tractor dealer and see if they can get you a chain curtain for the front of your mower. it will protect you from any debris that might be ejected forward out of the mower and it will keep all the grass from getting thrown on the back of your tractor.

Bummer. Been there with dirt/mud instead of grass and Cal choride instead of beet juice. Very unhappy day. If you do a lot of lifting with the front, you will want to get that weight balanced very soon. You'll feel it right away, and it is unnerving.

I already feel the difference with one unweighted tire. I should be alright for now with the bush hog on the back (pretty much lives on the tractor in the summer) but I'll want it filled by fall.

OK, potentially dumb question, but why beet juice? Was it just available, or does it have some special property that makes it good for ballast? Did you find out why the tire stem is on the interior side? BTW - GREAT t-shirt. :)
@farmmarketing
@farmmarketing 7 жыл бұрын
The beet juice comes under the brand name Rim Guard. It was the organic alternative to calcium chloride which is what was traditionally used. They moved to beet juice for this exact scenario. I don't have to worry about it in my field because it is non toxic. Not a dumb question at all. I think it was installed on the inside to give me the tire width that I was looking for.
@kirstenwhitworth8079
@kirstenwhitworth8079 7 жыл бұрын
About the Rim Guard - awesome. I hadn't heard of it before. Now I need to go research it. I am guessing it is made during the sugar extraction process from sugar beets. About the stems - interesting. Now to figure out how to avoid this scenario in the future! Have a lovely vacation with your daughter!

We bought our mahindra use with 120hrs. We mow much thicker grass with a little mud. That insurt you should be able to flip to push the wheels further out or suck them in. Noticed with the tires in wide track it fathers and build junk up. If ou have the wheels sucked in, that fender acts like a blade keeping it clean with no buildup. .

Axle grease ain't that good for rubber.
@scottpowers2607
@scottpowers2607 7 жыл бұрын
The axle grease doesn't hurt the rubber, cause it doesn't stay on the tire. You get a tube of grease smear it around the tire bead and rim, it will make an air tight seal, add air and the tire will force the grease outside of the rim. You can reclaim most of your grease.

do your self a favor and buy a Milwaukee 1/2 cord less impact, then you could have removed the tire then you could lift it with your excavator in your truck to the tire dealer and have it fixed and filled , does your bushhog have a row of chain on the front of it. I know people that bushhog do that to protect their tires , I see a friend have a timberjack skidder have that happen he remover the tire and rolledit out od the woods and put 2 trees down for a ramp and rolled it into his truck. I was there after he did that and said you must have had your dad over with the logging truck to lift the skidder tire with the log loader on the truck. He said no and told me how he did it,i would not want to pick a fight with him lol
