Farm Trip - Ford 8N Carb Fix

In this video we attempt to fix an issue with the Ford 8N where it stutters going up hill. We eventually figure out that a cheap replacement carb is the issue.
We had a cheap Chinese carb on it and put an old Marvel-Schebler on it and it ran fine. The only difference we could find is a couple of extra holes that weren't drilled in the Chinese carb. We have a few extra cheap carbs and are going to try to drill those holes manually to see if we can make them work like the originals.

I’m glad that you went with what is supposed to be on the tractor. Always stay with the original carburetor and if it giving you issues just rebuild it. Stay away from those Chinese aftermarket carburetors. There junk.

Yeah, we pulled that original one off a tractor we are rebuilding. This one didn't come with an original one so we had to make due with cheap aftermarket version. We now have a couple of extra originals that we can try to get working when we get the other tractor rebuilt.

Have you tried placing cast bowls on after market carb to see if it would do inclines?

We haven't tried that but it might work.

Were the carbs matched model numbers?

They are both the same model but the carb that was causing the issue was a cheap reproduction. It was a copy of a TSX33.
