Another good update Andrew, pleased for your results. The EA should be made to compensate for the lack of maintaining the rivers, such a shame that land is not now producing food because of them.

Great update, good to see Henry’s at least able to get onto his land even if it is destined for SFI. Reassuring that the doctor has been able to rule out a few problems, but it’s no good being in pain, all the time, and in a physical job. Nala looking like she’s in her element being fussed by all the visitors, proper farm ambassador! Interesting to see the electric Polaris, I’ve tried a fully electric Tesla, an electric Smart1, and a few PHEVs, the most recent being a BMW 7 Series and I have to say plugging in instead of filling up is a much nicer experience. So much power, much quieter, no fumes. Wonder how long it’ll be before we see full-sized tractors that are fully electric…

Glad you've had the all clear from the MRI. When I had my first MRI, they only found problems that there is no solution to. I'm on heavy painkillers, and know where you are in your journey, Just hope yours is fixable. mine was done 14 yrs ago and is no better than it was then. As to the rest of the video, glad/sorry to see Henry has had to resort to SFI as his troubles continue... As usual your videos contain lots of interesting info and always watch asap Sunday morning, same for the updates, thanks for the work you do, It is appreciated by all who watch.

Good afternoon Andrew Great couple of videos this week. The Agrii ifarm event was very interesting to watch, we had a similar presentation here in Cornwall back in March this year, going through varieties, cover crops, SFI stuff, so all good information. Touching on the nitrogen trials, nitrogen gets a lot of bad press, climate destroyer, but just look at how hungry we all would be without it! Crazy! Good to hear that there’s nothing serious ie cancer with regards to the back, what would we do if we lost you? 😂 hopefully they can get to the problem and do something to help. I’ve been there myself so know how it feels. Poor Henry! I’m as mad as you are that an organisation that clams to care for the environment does very little to protect it. Almost like they have a different agenda? I’ve been told that an extra 700 have been employed to go around farms and find faults, trying to make it difficult to farm. My ploughing contractor has given up his beef business after a visit from the EA this year. He would of had too much money to spend to comply to there rules. Wasn’t worth it. I’ve had 3 visits in 12 months myself. It makes you think, government documents show (if you do a little bit of digging) a 50% reduction in beef/lamb by 2030 so they can meet climate targets. The EA is a good way to achieve that? But then I’m just a conspiracy theorist 😂😂😂 Have a good time at the cereals event, looking forward to seeing the videos Cheers Irwin

How does the money for the SFI birdseed option compare to a potential good cereal crop, gross margin wise?
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard
@WardysWaffleAndrewWard 3 ай бұрын
There are various options paying between £570/ha up to £870/ha but the higher priced one will have more conditions to meet and the seed is far more expensive but are lower in return than a 10 ton wheat crop but better than most spring break crops and definitely better than farming water!!!

Is it not possible to farm that wonderful land of Henrys on a spring only rotation? Its criminal to lose good winter wheat land because of EA incompetence, but perhaps spring oats, barley, beet, peas, potatoes, maize would be less soul destroying than sfi weedfests. The EA need holding to account, but the powers that be all have their heads in the same trough. Its very frustrating

Brilliant news re your scan, lets hope they can find a way to ease your discomfort. Re Henry, I have already said this but the EA is another government department that is not fit for purpose. Have you tried lobbying your MP's (you and Henry) to get this issue raised properly? I appreciate nothing will happen now until after the election but make sure you nag the MP's until they are sick to death hearing from you both. I would also go to the media as nobody likes bad publicity. Its shit that you are forced to resort to desk thumping but this issue needs to be kept firmly in the present.

I was thinking the same, that one day in my imagination I could see some sort of contraption running up and down the rows and with video cameras identifying the weeds and removing them leaving just the sugar beet. For me that would be a good use of AI. Same goes for the black grass pickers which I remember from last year.

Posted on another of your vids about my neighbour and a collapsed pipe from a sluice gate, it has EA keep out signs and " IDB STRUCTURE" stickers on it but both are currently saying its the riperian owners problem. Is there not an argument for going back to the hoe for weed control in sugar beet, it's been a long time since I've been on the land, but we used to hoe at least once and especially in wet times it was very beneficial for weed control. Be interested in your thoughts, obviously I'm years out of touch, but it did work back in the day (I used to use a 12 row hoe on 140 acres)
