Farmall 706 Injection Pump Timing pt 2

I'm learning so much about this old D310 engine through trial and error, online searching, and contemplation. I'm so ready to hear it growl like it should.

I installed a d310 diesel injection pump on my dad's 756. It's supposed to be timed at 14° beyond T.D.C. When it is 14° beyond T.D.C. there is a timing dot on the injection pump gear that will match up to one dot on the fly wheel. If the dot on the injection pump gear is close to 2 dots on the engine flywheel then you need to turn the engine over 1 more time until you are back at 14° beyond T.D.C and there is only one dot on fly wheel

How did you know the 6 should be at the bottom left corner? I have a 684 and can’t find anything telling me what number should be in the corner

Hi, Cory. Not sure why I'm only now seeing your comment. I bought a thick repair manual online. I think the gear on mine had dots in one place and the number in another place, so probably wherever you see a number is your mark.

On engines that has no timming mark like wd612 and wd618/weichai diesel engines injection pump, what should I do to time the engine

Well, I'm not sure. It seems there would have to be a mark somewhere...
