Your camera person did a great job for you today. You should double their pay. You can really tell when you drop you right wheels into the furrow that your plows are being pulled straight and level. The back wheel seems to be working really well. Do you normally set your plows so deep? The new gas cap seems to be working well at not allowing fuel to run down the side of your tank. Did you have to adjust your carburetor, or did it work itself out? You were talking about wearing a cap because of the UV rays. Growing up in Kansas, all the farmers around my dad's farm (including my dad) had these large straw hats and none of the sides were turned up like the “Cowboys”. They were round and flat so the sun would not burn their necks. Oh well, this was a great video. Keep up the good work.
@FarmallFanatic
@FarmallFanatic 4 жыл бұрын
As long as it's turning the dirt over, I will go is deep as I can into the ground. I did a very slight adjustment on the carburetor and yes that gas cap is working perfect.

I have an extensive operating engineer background. Closest example I can think of is the normal operating speed of ships.All ships have a design cruising speed usually around 12 knots:around 15MPH. All ships can also operate at a much higher speed that we call flank speed in the Navy.At cruising speed the ship would hum along for days and months on end with less than 1% equipment issues. At flank speed things would start to go wrong within days: equipment could operate at high speed but wasn't designed to operate at high speed indefinitely.Same with most all mechanical devices: all out causes stress and stress is an equipment killer.

2 gear is plow gear. You can tell. Ms and Hs seem to like about 3/4 throttle too when plowing. They don't mind lugging a little bit. You just have an easier time of it and you think " man those old guys had a different mindset about being in a hurry about work in general." So, Red Power, take me back to the old days! Boom! A cheap time machine. The original owner of that was probably using horses before he got that tractor and he was thinking "Wow, I'm hauling ass".

Your H has the good wheels. It has the type of lugs that are riveted to the rims. The early Hs had the clamp on wheels with 3 lugs, similar to the back, but smaller. The W-4 and W-6 series tractors didn't use that style of hub until 1952. The Super W-6 went back to lugs on the front wheels, but they use 5 lugs like the W-9s and 18" wheels.

@@FarmallFanatic my brother had one about 30 years ago, it did a tremendous job. Then he sold it for only 20 dollars. Now he wishes he kept it.

I see that the H and the Plow are well matched because your steering didn't have to keep pulling to the left to keep it in the furrow. I think you got a great plow there for the H.
