Great video Roger we had an MD with that Christmas tree valve it worked well. They are rare yours is only the third one I’ve seen. You have a great day and keep the videos coming,you have a knack.

Hey Roger, another great video and a nice M there! I have a 39? and they do very well. I'm amazed nowadays if you try to buy a disc for one of these, they try to sell you a 5 - 6 footer! One dealership said they go by the horsepower of the tractor. I understand that but they don't take into consideration their size and pulling ability! I have an old Oliver disc about the size of yours but it makes a good seedbed!

You’re exactly right about size and pull. I have a lawnmower with more horsepower but it won’t pull a 10 foot disk. The M in the video has an M&W piston kit in it. I’ve pulled a 12 foot JD disk with it and plowed in 4th gear 8 inches deep with a 3x14 plow.

I spent a lot of time on an M, back when I was a kid. I'm thinking it was a '52, but I'm not sure. It was quite a machine!!

It was a game changer when it first came out in 1939. Still a good tractor for small farms.

Roger, great to see your posts. You really splurged, new battery box and the tool box! Had a tool box like that on my first MD, brother got it in the breakup of the family farming operation. Now it just sits out in the weather rotting away! I found another MD, but something happened to it over winter, the motor only turns over part way. Don't know if it's rust or something else that got into the exhaust, had the weather cap on it and it didn't sit that long. The neighbor I worked for as a kid, had a Deere disc similar to that one in the video. We always kept it shining like new, religiously! If those blades are polished and clean, it will cut considerably better. At home, we had the exact same disk, dad would add weight to it but that's bad on the boxings.

Thanks for your kind words. The M was out so long that companies like M&W made a business out of add-ons. I like to find these and add them to the tractor. I might put a hand clutch on one of the M’s . That would, in effect, give it live hydraulics and pto. When I use my old equipment I usually think of farmers I knew growing up and how they used them.
