Premarital sex was actually quite normal and common among the lower class. In some regions, it was custom that a couple wouldn’t marry until the woman had a pregnancy to prove the union was fertile. This wasn’t true for noble women of the medieval era, and then when the renaissance comes it flips!! Unless you were a princess, but that stops being true eventually as well. Then Queen Victoria normalizes waiting until marriage for both classes by having only women who weren’t “promiscuous” as her bridesmaids (which her advisers criticized because “such morals exists only for the lower class”) while she cemented her image as a queen for the people in her (very successful) effort to save the British monarchy which was under threat of being overthrown. Even still, premarital sex was very common among both classes just heavily stigmatized.

@@SassySoda history is so fascinating! The reason for the flip is the printing press. The Bible was given to the people for the first time so for the first time they were able to know what their religion wanted out of them bc bibles were too expensive and many peasants couldn’t read, and church services were done entirely in Latin so they LITERALLY didn’t know what the Bible said at all. Then they get it, and it says “wait for marriage” they start waiting. Meanwhile the nobility, who could read the Bible and so were expected to wait, saw the peasants and started thinking “they’re so uptight. I don’t want to be stingy like the peasants ew” so as long as it was kept on the DL, they would sleep with whoever they want before or after marriage. A woman marrying a king was still expected to wait for marriage and be faithful afterwards until like, 1600s ish when they stop doing those invasive examinations to “check” and stop watching the consummation (although more pressure was still put on the king’s wife purely bc if she sleeps with another man, then a child who ISNT the king’s child could inherit the throne)

I don't know how public medieval peasants were with their affection, but there was apparently a fair amount of premarital sex. This wouldn't be true for noble girls, but peasant girls apparently had a lot of freedom to meet and flirt with boys their age. There are accounts of young peasants having guilds (the female version was the Maiden's guild and the male was called the Youngling guild) and on certain holidays like Hocktide the boys would "capture" the girls on one day and make them pay a ransom and on the next day the girls would capture the boys. I believe the money went to the church. In any case, it seems like there was a fair amount of unsupervised contact, and judging from the fines imposed and the number of babies born out of wedlock there was a good deal of premarital sex. There is some suggestion that men and women purposely had sex before marriage to check fertility and then got married before the baby was born. Customs were somewhat loose on what counted as illegitimacy. If both parties were free to marry and then married before (or even shortly after) the baby's birth they judged the baby legitimate. This may only apply to peasants. I'm not sure. Sorry for the tangent. I only meant to comment on PDA.

In fact, a lot of marriages happened because a baby was on the way!!

I don't know if you know it, but Jacques is notorious for getting naked when he makes trading visits. I thought it was only mine, but I watch a lot of UDC videos and he gets naked in public a lot. I'm not sure which of his traits makes him want to be naked, but he's kind of a freaky guy.

You don’t need flirty treats you just need at least one roaster. At least in my game, I never give them treats 👀

“Presence of evil” is a trait of the Rambunctious Religions mod, your sim has this moodlet whenever he’s near someone who doesn’t share his faith 😅

you may need to buy at least one patch of Prairie bought from outdoor activities, for at least 10$ to get it started to spawan on the lot. I also noticed that your Trash bin was overflowing, you will need to empty that becuase of the lot trait you have, or you could die from death by flys, the over full trash also gives a negative moodlet to your sims there. also if you want a instant hit to hunger just get a sim to eat some honey. if you can get one of the sims to socialise with the wild birds / tree and gift them home made good or books, or anything realy, they are a great asset in gardening and daily they will assist with keeping bugs at bay, the same with the goats, you can ask them to help with gardening, and they will eat the weeds.

Thank you so much for sharing your mods with us. I am enjoying your playlist. Keep up the good work! I have just completed 100 years of the UDC. I use the mod created by Brazen Lotus - Harvestables fill more hunger. The Sims can eat them from their inventory. I find this very handy for my toddler sims and they get a nice buff from the fresh fruits and vegetables.

MissChipsa has npc clothing on her partreon account with mcc settings so new npc are showing up with appropriate era clothing.. I’m using it and it works. But you need to work with situational outfits bc they override outfits you chose sometimes.. you can work with MCC for that but if it doesn’t work there is “situationoutfitsbegone” mod 😊

Thank you for this letsplay! I enjoy every episode. You said couple of times that you can change cooking recepies, so honey instead of sugar can be used - could you please, if it's not too hard, make a some kind of tutorial, how to change ingredients? May be it is possible to change tags for honey, so it'll be "any sugar", I'm not sure... I'm such a lamer lol

Absolutely LOVE your vids. You have a very calm voice and your laugh is infectious! Hope you have loads of fun with your partner and take care of your mental 💜 Here's a random fact i read just a few days ago - Back in the day, hygiene wasn't a big thing, and of course they didn't have toilet paper, so the huge dresses that the women wore back then were actually designed to keep the smell under the dress. And when women would faint, it was less because of the heat and more because of the stench of themselves or others around them. They also didn't have toilets, just buckets, or a hole in the ground, so the majority of the time, people would just go toilet in the garden, or if they had a big house, like a castle for example, they would go toilet in the corner of a room (yes, even royalty)

Your welcome but it doesn't look like you slowed down the time at all so I don't know if you'll notice any difference. Curious where you got that cute Water Well item tho :) Edit: Sweet I found it. In case anyone else is wondering it's in the "Folklore: Homestead Set" created by Lili's Palace.
