i use pallets of pellets for straw for cows. is it better? more efficient? dont know, dont care. i have fun making the pallets, its the process that is the entertainment. this mod is a great addition to the game. love it.

A cool idea I just had now with the introduction of pellets. What if you were able to apply the same principle to wood in order to make wood pellets? Wood pellets would technically burn hotter and longer than loose wood chips and have additional uses in the BBQ industry. So you could either dump them into the pellet heat plant for more efficient production or sell them as pellet grill fuel. I just feel like that gives more variety to forestry operations.

this is a really good idea man! Here in the Uk we have one of the worlds largest wood pellet power plants - the things bigger than a coal station! Could be sick to have a small version in game, and add more machines to forestry :)

There is a production for making all theses pellets already. Wood included. By zoddlezock. Pretty sure thats not how its spelt tho😂😂

Yeah. And it’s actually worth doing if I remember right. Can be turned into heat and it’s worth a small fortune. Only down side is the price of the productions

Still seems pointless to me. While it compresses hay and straw, it doesn't actually increase the value enough to be worth the equipment, or the extra time, or having to empty the pelletiser every so often. The stationary one I used from the mod was decent; I could dump bale loaders into that and have it work fine. That just wasn't worth the effort of doing it, or the space it took up.

100% - this video seems to skip the $700,000 plus 'starter' entry fee for doing pellets; the machine is 320k, the special rack is 31k and the Pellet building that creates pallets is another 350k. That's not including a dedicated tractor to run the machine. Classic Giants concept - so much for so little. To think that there's a living perspective out there that so many FS22 youtube viewers cannot fathom or understand the use of simple math.

Great series and can't wait to see the deep dive. I ran a mobile pto to run the palletiser in the hall which worked fine. I also used 82 Studio's goods pallet to autoload the finished pallets (which worked fine). Now just to wait and see how the costs turn out. I'm thinking there needs to be an adjustment to the bagged pellets to make them more viable and justify the bagging machine versus selling them loose

Will start by saying I appreciate you making these videos and creative mesh for their work. This I feel will end up like the pumps and hoses dlc for me. Fun for a bit but not worth the extra work in the end. For people playing full realism I have no doubts they will have fun with this like I’m sure they did with the pumps and hoses dlc. For me it will be fun to mess with a bit then I’ll probably move on. On the plus side it does have the balers and bale grabs so that’s nice.

GDay FC, I had a bit more of a look last night around the economics between selling loose straw, selling straw pellets and using the pellets to generate power. From what I could tell, using the pellets to make power is only a little over the cost in selling the same amount to loose straw, so not worth the outlay for the equipment and production building. I could get a big difference between selling loose straw and pellets (using the animal dealership) - around 10ish times (in easy mode). I will test the bagged pellets versus loose to see if there is any advantage between selling and filling up the hopper at the power plant. Gut feel is that the overall economics is off and not a good RoI, esp for the pellet hall and power plant but will see.

While the pellets do "multiply" when input into an animal pen...isn't that at least partially offset by the compression that takes place during the pelletizing process? Do you really end up with more straw in the pen then you originally put through the pellet maker? I honestly don't know. Ultimately, this is a really unique mod that has a lot of "play" potential...but when I'm trying to make money and expand a farm, I'm having a hard time seeing a use for this.

Yeah, if you're doing the pellets for a profit aspect and not roleplay, I wonder how it even compares to other sources of electricity. Is it more efficient to just dump silage into a BGA or turn that into hay pellets and burn it? I imagine the silage is still a better use. On top of that, do you get more profit out of electricity than you do by just selling it? (Since electricity isn't something you'd use in other productions, I don't see any use to making it into electricity over just selling it outright unless the electricity return is better.)

If you pellet 4000 L of straw it will make 1000 L of pellets (same with hay). Then when you add it to an animal pen 1000 L of pellets will work for 4000 L of material or feed

4000 liters of straw is 1000 liters of pellets. So it showing 4000 straw in the animal pen makes sense but is still weird to be honest. And I had calculated it would take me 16 RL hours to break even using the factory, but never occurred to me to just direct sell it. Thanks for that Farmer Cop! So you just turn it into another forage harvester, wonder if courseplay or the AI can run the machines....🤔

Why bother with pellets. Unless, if you don't have them you get roused on by your mum. It seems like a non entity with no benefit.

You make a LOT more off of straw if you make it into pellets to sell :)
