Wow, that railroad iron is somethin. That's 200 IQ. I always struggle with just using a boxblade and straight edge rake for the corners by hand.
@FarmerHunt Жыл бұрын
The railroad iron works great. It’s heavy but easy to use. We’ve raked many walls and many corners by hand. No fun!

Another great video guys. I just finished reading the book of John yesterday. In Acts now. John the beloved is my favorite apostle.

Found you from your starlink video. Thank you for sharing your chicken barn. Didn’t realize the litter becomes the bedding. Would be a fortune in shavings. You both make it look easy. Thank you again
@FarmerHunt2 жыл бұрын
Yes, we typically fully clean out once a year. As long as you spend the time preparing the bedding for the next flock you can go years and years with out fully cleaning out. Thanks for watching!

Kept looking for darkling/litter beetles, didnt see many, im impressed! Usually a good many on top of the wind rows.
@FarmerHunt2 жыл бұрын
I really think the windrowing has helped cut down on the beetles.
@jeremykincer99462 жыл бұрын
@@FarmerHunt it does for sure. The heat kills the larvae which helps break their life cycle. I spray all the broiler houses for Pilgrims Guntersville complex. My growers that windrow have noticeablely less bugs. The benefits to doing it are great! I dont understand why more growers dont do it, especially when you grow antibiotic free.

How do yall like those hi/lo feeders? Awesome job on floors. And Eric is exactly right about the hump under the feeders for trays. Don't ask how I know lol. Can't wait for the set up video.
@FarmerHunt2 жыл бұрын
Those are in Eric's houses. I have different ones in my houses. He really likes them. The only complaint would be that sometimes the litter can get stuck in pans when they are in the flood position. When that happens they don't fully open when they are raised. Occasionally we have to go though and pop some of them to get them fully opened and sealed off. Other than that they are great.

@@FarmerHunt Gotcha, I figured that was Eric's houses, your feeders look like Valco. I have to replace 4 houses in the future, leaning toward choretime revolution as of now.

Can you give us an update on how your starlink has been?
@FarmerHunt2 жыл бұрын
We are hoping to do an update video soon - Chicken house work, baling hay and selling beef has been running our lives lately. So far we are very pleased with the Starlink. We have not had any issues with it going out. We have had several high wind/heavy rain storms and it slows some but still works. All in all we are very pleased

How long is your piece of Rail? I just bought a chicken farm..love your videos!! But I was a Millwright for 32 years in Steelton Pennsylvania... we made Rail!! I have a few pieces, but probably only 3 to 4' long.. thanks again for your videos
@FarmerHunt Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I think it is around 10’. I am pretty sure the doors to our houses are 11’ wide and it’s about a foot shorter so we can easily get it in and out.
@josephnovakjr8198 Жыл бұрын
@Farmer Hunt yeah, I definitely don't have anything that long.. just yard art pieces of Rail, one is dated 1913 from the Bethlehem steel mill... anyway, enjoying your videos. Helps a lot along with the help of family who we bought our Bryant Alabama farm from.. enjoying my new life doing this... definitely a challenge and change from living in a steel mill all my life.. but it definitely prepared me maintenance wise for the new farm! Hard work always pays off,especially being your own boss basically!
