The 2725 is the ideal tractor to restore as it can be added to the fleet as a working machine. The Massey Ferguson 2600 and 2700 series are among the classiest tractors ever built.

I would sort out 6499 first as a front-line tractor it's looking tatty it needs sorting, in my opinion, mudguard aircon mirror paint

If the Crystal gets chosen Father phill will get help offered to him from all over Ireland. The man who sold you the 1200 once told me he didn’t ever break Zetor/Ursus because the new parts were very cheap and the used internal parts were often too worn to sell on again even though they were fine in the tractor prior to breaking it.

The 8011 would be a handy one too parts can be got cheap for them out of poland. The pto welded in is common as it used to slide out and if u wernt using 1000 shaft it was welded. Breaks not a big job to do on them eather. All cab parts and infact all parts for the whole tractor can be easyly got for them. If that engine is completely gone u can get a perkins 6354 conversion kit that bolts straight in and will bring her well up on power and speed. Extremely comfortable tractor blows anything of the 70s out of the water. Would be a lovley one for ye lads for a bit of extra flavor to the fleet. 👍👍

I think the grandfathers tractor would be the best one to do phil. One reason it would look good in the farm shop,two its a handy enough to restore and three it would give space and time to finish off the 1200.

The Ferguson 20 would make a great project. The first tractor in your family - that's more than enough reason to get her done. Straight petrol ones with the early Standard Motor Company engine are rare. I had one from 1949 too. It wouldn't be a very big job either considering the job ye did on the 1200!

8011 was the workhouse on many farms and contractors used them too because of the wheel grip . I have a 74 one and it's still able to work. Brakes could be a problem if not maintained especially the rubber covers on the brake units at the back-end and the thimble size of a brake resovoir emptied too quickly if you had a weep from a worn seal. I used mine for years on a Welger RP 200 baler and many other jobs around the farm. As Massey men there yous will probably find it strange to consider restoring a make that yous have no family goes with but throughout Ireland a lot of farmers got great service from Zetors and especially the finance packages to purchase them back in the day which gave the less well off farmers a chance to have a fresh tractor to use and a great dealer network also...

Brilliant I will stick with my original choice 1 Ferguson 20 2 , 2725 Why be useful tractor to have running 3 Crystal Also be useful tractor to have running and going on my experience of them the cheapest easiest engine to repair Front axle off Head and Sump everything easy to get to you would do 2 Crystal 4 cylinder engines for 1 Perkins and likely a better engine As you said Father Phil the 6 Cylinder was a Beast We never had a lot of trouble with Stopping Big downfall was those sick rubber blocks under the diesel tanks and poor radiator 4, Massey 590 Never a big fan Now it’s poor starting could be due to a slow starter motor Had a similar experience with a Perkins Changed Starter no more difficult starting , and the starter came from Kerry Ireland to Western Australia Not available in Australia in 2017 G Luk

The tipping in the 1200 was in her the first night it was started! Sounds like a valve as she's a bit droney and soft on the rev. Should be hard and sharp.

Difficult decision here. The 2725 is such a cool yoke. The 20 obviously has the most sentimental value to you. And i have suchba love of the 500 series Massey's. I spent alot of my childhood in the cab of a 2wd 590

Why not let Farther Phil choose out of the last 4. And I vote for 590 ? It’s all good and fine for something to look at But you are a very busy farm If an extra tractor can help Why not !!!!

Unfortunately in my opinion some of the machines wouldn’t need repair if minded slightly rather just fucked around the place, like the kneverland mower shouldn’t be left out the way it was and appears to be perfect, also what about the johndeere mower and baler & the front kuhan mower, where are they. Buy a few covers and tarps wouldn’t go astray, line up the tractors and put them under cover, or even a couple of containers so things can be undercover.

The Ferguson 20 is getting my vote because its the tractor that started it all at the beginning and with the family connection that sealed it for me because we still have my grandfathers first tractor which is a Saunderson model G but it was a very close decision between the 20 and the 590.
