Those are awesome tips. I had a hunch that's how it works. I always liked how grocery stores present the produce at an angle towards the customer.

loved the pink hats! Great tips I will apply next weekend. three booths lost their canopies last weekend, it was very windy, I ran an additional strap to my truck but I still held on to it at times. thanks

The stack 'em high and watch 'em fly works with T-Shirts and socks. I'd start with 4 tables like yours and shrink down to one sometimes before the end of the day.

it's also about selection.. a story I heard long time ago was a gift shop had 3 sizes of tea pots she only sold medium size so when she needed room she got rid of small and large. she ended up selling no tea pots. so now she has 3 sizes but always sells medium. the only large and small pot are the ones on the shelf
@TheH0W1E8 жыл бұрын
In the grocery industry they call that a "loss leader". Sometimes you have to carry a small selection of like items to give the customer some feeling of choice, just to sell the most popular or "best" variety. It's a strange phenomenon but is 100% true.
@AUSSIE1PRIDE7 жыл бұрын
H0WITZER 82 I know it's a year old comment but, loss leaders are items you sell at below cost to draw in customers to hopefully buy a cart load of other stuff. for example at a store I worked at one of our best sellers were boxes of tissues of all things... the company would pay roughly $1.10 per box & sell them for 80 cents each losing 30 cents on each box we sold hundreds of them every week, & typically no one ever just stopped in to buy a box of tissues they would wonder the store and end up buying $20-$30 of other junk they didn't need.

I loved seeing the market finally. This format of vloging helps round out he picture. I'd love a video breaking down your different markets and what percentage they contribute to your bottom line. The percentage mix probably varies throughout the year but that would be interesting to see as well. Congratulations on your well deserved success!

what's interesting is that those that either eats or juice kale will do a lot of it and buy a lot too. When I was juicing I was buying at least a dozen a week, which was great in the summer, but hard to find fresh cut in the winter. Kale quickly looses it's moisture days after the cut, which is fine with all ways of eating except juicing Knowing your target market is so important!

As a first year farmers market vendor, everything I just saw in this video is 100% accurate. Amazing, regardless of country, it evolved exactly the same. I have even less stuff as a noob so I bring a smaller table to deliberately not have room for the little bit of stuff I do have so I have to bunch everything together.

Curtis, what brand of canopy tents did you use that allows you to set up solo? every brand I've purchased seems to require 2 people. Also, the music for the set up is AMAZING! Banjo and Sitar? Never heard that combo. Is it a downloadable track?

Thanks for the feedback. I wrote and recorded that track over 10 years ago. I don't have it anywhere to download. The canpoies I use are called Impact.

Curtis, do you have any problems with your bagged greens clouding up with condensation on hot market days? I keep having that issues - and with clamshelled items too. They condensate almost immediately after going onto the table and look undesireable. Would love any insight you have. Thanks!

I dont have a farm :( Im in the "fantasizing of one day maybe doing it" stage. Your channel makes me feel like that is possible. I have just embarked on a lower impact/waste lifestyle.. and trying to reduce my use of disposable plastics.. so now I notice that everyone is using way to much packaging.

That's why I said what I did. It's easy to criticize from the side lines. I've researched better packaging for many years.

Hello Curtis. Thank you for sharing all your videos. I recently find your channer throught John Kohler at GYG. I really appreciate your passion for growing. I will like to grow microgreens some day and sell them to restaurants but, how do you get into selling to restaurants? How do you know how much to sell your product for and be competitive at it with out loosing money nor over charging your clients. Let me know if you have these resources somewhere I would like to learn more about that. Thank you.
