In today’s episode we talk about the farmers market and yadayada but more importantly we see a truly superb clip of Scooter. Just amazing that cat. I like to include as much Wendell as possible, but Scooter is just far more interesting on a day by day basis, bless Wendell’s heart. Sleepy thing.
Also I forget to mention in here that the reason we “faux” stack (with the quart containers) is also part of our freshness strategy so we don’t have to stack all of x crop at once.. So consider that mentioned.

Totally agree with both! In fact, those two may be the most important market commandments of all

Jesse, pile it high and kiss it bye. Does the "bye" part mean its going to sale well or does it mean you will you be throwing away whatever doesn't sale?

Rough Draft Farmstead that would be awesome to see Jessie. I was so excited at our first farmers market this year, I had to 😁. If you want to check it out, head over to my channel Jessie. I posted it. Thanks for the great tips hermano ✌🏼. Much love.

Good video information... You have 2-5 seconds to catch / retain that customers' attention from your display to your appearance/ attitude! Shopping at your table ... WHY? What are their benefits with you? Smile, welcome, and thank them goes a long way for repeat customers! Be ready and enjoy the day. Another must see video is: Farm Life series, neversink farm market displays!

"Pile it high, watch it fly ..." is our local version, but ... yeah. Same-same.

I think we need more of these. How about "Stack it on, watch it be gone!" Or "A big ole heap makes produce leap!"

Hey Farmer Jesse this is Farmer Dan from Meadow Falls Farm in NY Do you use a scale or is everything priced? Do you find that micro greens sell better than heads of lettuce? Thanks

Hey Daniel! We do use a scale but not on everything. Certain bunches are not weighed (carrots and beets for instance). Head lettuve and micros sell almost exactly the sane for us! Mix lettuce moves way more than anything else. But that may just be our market

If you make your beds round as in high in the middle low at the edges, couldn't you get more rows in the same space?
@notillgrowers

In the gardens? More space maybe but less sunlight at the lower sides. Plus walking space is critical. The most efficient use of space is a keyhole bed (you can google that), but it’s not practical for us.

I noticed your mushrooms are below wholesale prices per pound ($6 wholesale - $10 to $12 retail). Also your micro greens are way below normal ($5 to $6 lb.) Is this what the market will pay or you just like to move alot of quantity or ???

"Local Grown" is the meaning for a farmers market in California, you can't use stuff that you didn't grow, that would make it illegal! There are some exceptions though!
