That angle cut against the wall always gets me. I built something similar a while back and had a lot of trouble getting that cut right
@jimthesoundman8641
@jimthesoundman8641 2 жыл бұрын
Just lean the normal 2x4 against the wall in the position you want it in, then hold a ruler against the side of it so it's touching the wall, then trace along the opposite side of the ruler. Clamp the two 2x4's together and cut them both at once. Easy as pie.

@@jimthesoundman8641 I love your idea for scribing the vertical cut, and then you could scribe the horizontal bottom cut with the same ruler, resting the ruler on the floor alongside the bottom of the board - no measuring angles at all, and a custom fit in case the house itself is out of square!

I love that you've found a way to keep content coming when Ana needs a break or is working on a longer project. The design style doesn't change, it's just presented slightly differently and with a different person operating the tools.

Is this sturdy enough to sit on or is it really intended to hold backpacks? Thanks! Love the videos, please keep them coming!👍🏻
@AnaWhiteDIY
@AnaWhiteDIY 2 жыл бұрын
It's not really intended to sit on, the bottom portion is more for extra shoe storage, or to set stuff on. If it was attached directly to the studs in the wall, it would be sturdy enough for a small bench too.

Awesome concept! Does cause my mathematical mind to bring up a couple of questions. 🤔 1. Won't there be a "tip over" factor to be concerned about? 2. Wouldn't the base of the legs need an angle cut? 3. Wouldn't it be better to make the rungs perpendicular to the floor, not the legs? I might be off base, but curious minds want to know this stuff 😉
@AnaWhiteDIY
@AnaWhiteDIY 2 жыл бұрын
There is a 10 degree angle at the base and the top cut allows it to sit flat against the wall. According to my friend it's holding 3 heavy backpacks, jackets and lunchboxes with no issues. Thank you for watching!

Like the project a lot but not really a fan of this format of video for carpentry projects, especially. It’s a little rough on my eyes and ears. If you want a vote, i vote for the verbal instructions instead of a montage and graphics. Thanks!

Thanks for the visit! You would want to anchor it into the wall by screwing through that top board into a stud.
