My mother, who is a great woman, taught me absolutely nothing about homemaking while I was growing up. I started playing catch up once I got married and I'm really trying to get it together now that I have kids. I learn everything from you! Thank you for all you do. I'm trying a sourdough starter today and just got my first batch of cabbage fermenting the other day.

I did have my children cook and clean growing up. One daughter in particular had no interest whatsoever her older sister cleaned up after her. She was definitely the princess of the family. But now that she is married and has a home of her own. I’m excited to see the changes in her with keeping a home and cooking. 😊

I love how I can watch you and think, "She is not doing that the right way." And then it comes out just fine... and when it doesn't you just say, "it'll do." The lesson isn't in the cooking, it's in the attitude. But it really does almost always come out amazing. I am so glad you leave in the times it doesn't, though. You show us how this is a learning process for all of us.

I think something most people don’t understand about your cooking flow and constant work ethic in your home and kitchen is you need to be home to run a home like this. You addressed it once in a video and it made so much sense. You need to be homeschooling, a home based family, not a ton of activities or driving to and from everywhere to serve your family like this 3x a day

So true, i can't believe how families jam their schedules with soccer. Cheerleading, baseball, football etc etc. It's ridiculous. Shuffling kids around to multiple team sports...is insanity. They are so busy "doing" "cramming", "jamming"......their too exhausted to actually enjoy family time, slow down and breathe.

We have 4 children. Even with only one activity (sport) per child, we end up having to leave the house almost daily (library, homeschool group play dates, just going to parks for a walk to enjoy more nature). We just eat the simpler food (one pot meals: soups, stews), that I make in big batches twice a week. All we need to do is to warm it up when we get back home. Also, we always have some fresh bread from the bread maker, that my oldest girls make themselves. For the weekends we make fancier meals that everyone is looking forward to. Works perfectly for someone who can't afford to stay around the house. P.S. For breakfast we eat lots of porridge. It is easy to make and is a hot meal, (my children just don't like cold meals like cereal). It can be a different one each day: cream of wheat, buckwheat, rice, oatmeal, quinoa, you name it. Add your favorite topping/fruit, few boiled eggs- nutritious breakfast is ready. This is how our ancestors used to eat. They just couldn't afford to prepare 3 meals from scratch per day. Pardon me for my "composition" here ;-)

Is it weird of me to say I've cried thinking about what it would be like to have a friend like Lisa? I'm a stay at home mother of 3 kids. My best friend is my mom but otherwise I don't have any friends. I just keep to myself and tend to our home and my family. I've been so inspired by this content that in the last 6 months, I've completely done a 180° from who I was before. Just last night, I made the foccocia recipe from the blog, (farmhouse on boone, of course) and turned it into a deep dish pizza. The thought came 4 hours before the pizza was done and it was phenomenal. Everything I know about sourdough was learned through Lisa's content and blog. My love and appreciation for my little humble home, and caring for it, and just taking care of things even if I'm not in love with specific things, all this mindset came from Lisa. I'm pretty content living my life, but I sometimes truly wish I had a friend like Lisa. I look forward to these videos every week. It's a shame that there aren't people like you living on every corner. You really are an amazing inspiration and an amazing human. Thank you ❤

I only have 1 IRL homemaking friend and I'm so glad to have her but it's certainly a blessing to have an online mentor/"friend" where you can just turn on a video and feel not only inspired but also a sense of comradery. I also fall into the category of those commenting about being raised by a homemaker who didn't exactly pass on their knowledge or training so I love learning from this channel ❤️

I also cook this way and I love it. Mondays are a lighter homeschool day so I can get our household on track after busy weekends. I defrost a ton of meat, prep my veggies from the farmer's market or garden, soak grains for the week and start some sourdough. It doesn't take much time and helps me know what I have. This time of year, I'm grilling more and cooking outside.

I am so grateful for this visual of a weekly menu! 🙏🏽 I love cooking for my fam, but I lack organizational “big picture” skills, so I tend to feel burned out and discouraged after cooking each dinner. Seeing the flow of all components through the week is so helpful! My main takeaway is to gather ALL protein for the week and never have to panic with a last min thawing. The bulk of the work is Monday, and the rest of the week should take little thought to put together! 👏🏽

From scratch cooking and meals has been one of the highlights of my life. My Grandmas, aunts and my mom were all in the kitchen, all the time. I religiously watched cooking shows from pre adolescence…and even tho my mom didn’t allow us in the kitchen with her my aunt did..she taught me a lot. I know cooking is my God given talent. I love love love being in my kitchen and cooking this way. There’s a homemade baked good, snack and meals prepared every day of the week for my family. I’m a SAHM and wife so I clearly have the time but even when I was in the workforce I was able to accomplish it. I believe that is because cooking is my passion and my work skills and ethic taught me things will flow easily when you plan and prepare and from your overall life experience you can pivot for unplanned and unexpected times that will undoubtedly happen. Pivot over panic..always. This was a joy to watch. It felt very familiar 😂❤

We just bought our dream farmhouse on Bain😂 I just thought, “oh! I have a basement! I can make my own basement market!” Also, from a former vegan and someone who often doesn’t have milk in the house, use some reserved potato water for your mashed potatoes. It will also make them creamy. I’ve also used water in place of milk for biscuits and can’t tell much of a difference!!

Great ideas. Cooking from basic ingredients is also a great way to keep your budget in line. Avoiding premade foods, processed foods, drive through etc all helps the budget. ❤

Yes the flow does go similar to this, but I am going to watch this for a third time and actually sit down with a notebook and write it all down... the step by step, daily instructions and recipes too! Thank you, Lisa! ❤

Lisa-Always so appreciative for your encouragement and wisdom. These simple tips have helped me to keep sanity and health in my kitchen. I really appreciate how you underscore the importance of TIME at home. Applying & prioritizing that principle in my homemaking 3-4 days a week maintains calm & order. Also LOVE your braids. Your hair is looking so full, shiny & beautiful. ❤

I need to catch some breath after watching this video. You are absolutely a champ! I’m also improvising every day with the flow. Now that i’m older and have more experience in the kitchen I can cook a lot of meals without recipes and that makes the flow more easy, but also makes me cook too many things at the same time to use over the week, so I still get exhausted. Thanks for sharing your busy life with us!

I'm motivated and also exhausted at the same time. My mother was like this but she also had my grandmothers help and her sisters that all pretty much lived in the same vicinity, and they all helped each other out. I now live in the USA (LA) no one lives near me and there's no community here, unless you're into drinking wine and eating cheese at the local restaurant, it breaks my heart. Anywho, Great job!

Thank you for showing me an example of your kitchen flow, that's the only way I learn is by seeing. I wasn't shown anything regarding running a home growing up, (and no one was really cooking much)... and so due to a few issues, I've been struggling for years with young kids. Thanks for the visual encouragement!

Long time subscriber and I love all your content. You've been an inspiration to me as a mom and homemaker in some very difficult seasons over the years. This video was very informative but the rapid fire content didn't resonate with me as much as your normal, slower format sharing the same info. I'd happily watch the same content spread out over a longer video to be able to enjoy it and really absorb the info 😊 I missed the calming music and pauses in dialogue. This felt more stressful - which is definitely real life some days! Love everything you share and do ❤️

Whew 😂 I got the style of this video was to fly through a week but the pace was so fast, I'll be reading the transcript to catch a couple details. I have always appreciated the fact that you are not one of the oh so slow content creators and I enjoy your normal pace which says "I'm a busy mom and I know you are too"! Thank you so much!

Like so many others have said, I was never taught anything about homemaking at home or even school where I took both foods and adult living classes. It truly is an art and is so much more than housekeeping and grocery shopping. We actually lived next to a grocery store for most of my childhood, so many times my mom would just run over and grab a few ingredients for dinner which doesn’t exactly work for me since I live 15 minutes from the grocery stores in town.
