A busy day swinging the axe at some hard-to-split spruce. I'm slowly making my way through all this wood and can't wait to have it all split and stacked. Just a few more days and I should be able to get through it all.
Thanks to everyone who watches. God bless!

Nothin' like a hard day's work! But you make it look easy. Or at least relatively effortless.

Nice to see a young man “reading the wood” and splitting where it wants to split.

I did what your doing now with the ax and maul years ago. Now 75 and in still in decent shape after a bout with cancer. Enjoy your roughing it. Wish I was younger I would give you a visit and show you some shortcuts on your woodwork. Great vids Kusk.

Another enjoyable video. I split all our firewood for years, living in the north country. When I got into some stubborn blocks, I would start with taking about a 3 or 4” slab off the block. I’d work my way around the block and end up with 3 or 4 slabs and about a 10-12” core that would usually with a couple of whacks. Trying to split a knarly 18-20” block of wood down the middle can sometimes be difficult. Keep the videos coming, reminds me of my younger days.

I find even the real twisty spruce splits real easy when it's frozen... like 20 below frozen. I can see that's not going to help you right now, though. I use a 4 pounder, too, and I like it better than the maul.

I usually put the logs in an old tyre so your not picking them up all the time, works for me👍

I knew you were going to "old school" that wood, great exercise for sure. When you get done with all the work you'll have several seasons worth. I got tired just watching...😉 See ya next time.

I understand you need to get you wood up, how ever if you cut green trees and leave them on the ground with the branches the branches will draw the moister out of the tree. Wait a couple of weeks and you have better wood and maybe less work.

I'm sure it would help a lot to wait. But in a couple weeks all this wood will be split and stacked. Thanks for watching!

I always enjoy your videos (on both channels) and great job dropping these trees on your last video. I like your 3 axe process here for splitting and moving...is there a particular brand of axes/mauls you prefer? I lean towards Gransfors Bruk but am always interested in what others use. Good to you back on this channel as well and keep up the great work!!

I'm not much of a brand name guy. I mostly buy old worn out tools and restore them. My 4 lb axe is an old Plumb. As long as the profile is suitable for the task at hand I don't worry too much about the brand. Thanks for watching!

I am no expert, but it looks as if the relatively soft ground is absorbing much of your effort. Maybe a stump on a stump? Not sure it's worth living them.
@KuskWild

Ya I'm sure the soft ground isn't helping.
