When the struggle on our farm was at it hardest somehow my Dad managed to purchase a Brand new 1066 with air tilt PS PB radio heater. It was so amazing to think how this blessing was gifted to us. No more sweating or shivering or dirt in our eyes. My dad thanked God for granting such wisdom to man. It saved our farm from bankruptcy. Looking at it now my son plugged it in yesterday put an exhaust hose from. A running pick up truck to the oil pan and started it at minus 38 just. Like it was summer. Had to auger some grain. We are still thankful for this 10 we call it every day. This video drew a tear or two.

Those were the good old days when family farmers made a good living. I remember seeing a lot of the tractors and equipment being used everyday in my home town of newport nc. IH was the best!

We had 1086 row crop tractors a few 4 wheel drive 325 HP Stieger Panthers for pulling 30 foot disc and chisel plows and doing some scraper work a 1460 IH combine with mud hogs. Also had a 4 wheel drive 200 HP articulated John Deere can't remember the number it had duels all the way around. The good ole days when u had to use the clutch on your tractors none of this hydrostatic stuff and not 3/4 of the electronics u actually had to drive you machine down the field and pay attention none of this auto track GPS that stuff is nice but to me it takes the fun out of running your equipment. We weren't doing no till either had to get in the fields every year and bow them 4 wheel drives up on them big disc and plows . Tilling the land was one of my favorite things to do it was mindless just don't get stuck in wet spots and raise them up on the end rows. Never forget the smell of freshly turned ground. We has some bottom land fields that stayed wet so every year the combines would dig 3 foot ruts then you'd have to rip and disc up them fields it got tough even with them big 4 wheel drive 8 tire Stiegers on 30 and 25 foot disc. Them 2 wheel drive 1086's with duels on 20 foot disc wouldn't do it just get stuck.

The parent company in north America closed its Australian division which was a crime, it closed a lot of its worldwide operations that werent doing well to save its arse in the states , it destroyed a beautiful company in Geelong Australia which led the way in innovation design , was a awesome company , i loved there gear. I think 1984 or 5 it closed here.

It still depresses me to this day knowing the fate of International Harvester. I grew up on a farm with nothing but Internationals and a few Versatiles/Fords. Tenneco company was the one that screwed it all up.
