Farming on a LAVA World is an Interesting Experience... (Ep 4)

Hey everyone back with more Scrap Mechanic Survival! Today we are back in the lava world with a lava farm! Finally we'll be able to eat some food and actually survive for more than 30 seconds in this hardcore adventure! Hopefully this farm will get us more established so we can start exploring the world further and getting more top tier resources!

May I suggest a crop defense system Basically put a short post in the middle of your crop farm, place a bearing on top and then attach a long stick, place some saws if you got metal to spare or just make the ends heavy and spin the contraption

Well it's the first thing I thought of when considering automatic defense originally I would also place a wall around the farm and use the the fact that extended pistons can go trough things to make it extra safe, after a few months I saw neebs gaming do something similar with their defenses using large hammers and wheels that would spin around the farm

for farming you could use scrapmans nomad system, which you dont have to defend. It could be a good solution to just farm on different places on the shoreline in the start of the series

This is definitely a cool series- I'm thinking maybe, since you said your vehicle is more like a work platform and you can't have seats on it, build it in the style of a scissor lift or a manlift, so that way you can use it for a bunch of different tasks. The only downside would be that you need pistons probably, and you'd also probably need metal or concrete as a counterweight.

I personally feel that the seat restriction is unnecessary and will prove to be more trouble than it's worth. Saying no tubs or lvl 5 seats makes more sense. Maybe just restrict your seats to lvl 1 also, go with the last lava texture.

If you plant at 4:01am then you get the whole day to do whatever plus the level 1 crops will grow in time for you to pick up all the veggies and you won’t have to defend any crops while fighting bots

Your going to want the water container that will allow you to scoop out water directly from it with a bucket it will be a crude way to water until you get the water gun but definitely worth it

you can try and make the texture reffrence the ember wood texture that way you will get ezy lava look with some nice ambient occlusion on it

at 21 minutes, all crops except pineapple and broccoli are 'fully grown' but they may not sprout for several minutes. after this 21 minute mark, splashing water will force them to sprout, otherwise you have to wait for rng to trigger them. pineapple and broccoli take twice as long, fertilizer cuts the remaining time of any crop in half. in game hours take 1 minute. so planting at 12 am means the crops can be harvested at 9 to 12 the next night. forced to sprout at 9 with water. raid timer triggers at 4:30 am, so if the farm is clear before then you don't get a second raid.

you could use one lv2 controller to rotate wood to activate sensors. that way, barring 1 and 2 are for forward / backwards, 3 and four are for steer left and right. I'm sure you can come up with a better system that doesn't use sensors but I'm too dumb to figure that out.
