i handle shipping containers at a port with a machine called a reach stacker and i load/unload containers with both tractor trailers and city trucks and at 8:00 you are correct there are container specific trailers that have locking pins that fit those pockets on the container you mention. but it's common for street trucks (semi trucks) to load these containers on flat beds like in your video and just secure it with straps. those pockets on the containers are also how the containers lock together on the ship and on trains, that's part of the reason they don't tip over off the ship for the most part. they're just big 30 ton legos when they're on the ship. There is a reach stacker mod i noticed in the modhub and i'm excited to try it out i just have no idea how the containers are used in the game. also yes whole logs are shipped in the containers that is very common as a port worker, hearing you refer to the containers length in meters instead of feet was a bit odd even as a canadian lol but for simplicity of the games sake i understand.

really weird that Giants didn't think about adding twistlocks functionality for this. If you do start with shipping containers, do it properly..... same with the short forks being able to lift that container, in reality it would probably fall off or damage the container badly. nice idea and addition to the game, but half assed .....

I have filled 6 containers with trees and have started the frustration of trying to figure out WHERE DO THEY GO??? 🤣🤣 I thought I could use them to deliver wood to my various businesses. Nope. Big fat nada. One thing I have learned is if you bring the cut- but unprocessed tree to the container with the harvester, aim the fat end of the tree into the container then hit the button, WAH LAH! Entire tree is cut up and in the box! Super sweet

If you can put pallets of goods in it, they will sell to, but there really isn't any lifting device that fits in it well.

yeah, you have to sell them to the train. The lumber yard is for free floating logs.

They should still move as long as you get the forks "near the bottom"

This makes me wonder if we'll be getting container chassis in the next game/DLC, and the larger 45, 48, 53ft boxes, and the smaller 10, & 28ft boxes. For reference for those who have no idea what I'm talking about, in the US we has a variety of sizes that included 20ft (our smallest), 28ft, 40ft, 45ft, 48ft, & 53ft. Some sizes (20ft, 40ft, 45ft, and 53ft) are still in use today, while sizes such as 28ft, and 48ft either failed (the 28ft), or phased out (48ft). Also, we never had 30ft in the US. Not even as tanktainers (that is an actual thing BTW). And even if we did, it would have back fired just as bad as UPS's failed 28ft container & saddle program to speed up shipping times. I also want to note that we do use 10ft containers, but NOT for normal commercial use. These containers are leased out as mobile storage units, or container versions of moving trucks.

I actually know some people driving container trucks in europe, and loading tree's/logs in containers is actually a real thing. They get shipped to China.

So fwiw, the reason you woodnt want to use a regular container chasis for a container loaded with wood is because the container chasiss are effectively made with toothpicks. So while they can carry containers, they most likely wouldnt be able to handle the weight

Hey admiral they have special chassis to haul heavy weight normally spread axle or tri-axle chassis for extreme weight I happened to a truck driver that haul shipping containers

you get reimbursed for the container, but if you use wrong length log to wrong length container you get fined.

A question I have, if I use a shipping container for my logs am I able to unload the logs at the sawmill I own to turn them into planks etc?

I need to test that out - that is a great question - theoretically, yes. We put steel rolls in and tried to sell them, and they sold, so it will "probably" work. Keep an eye on my Silverrun series - We will definitely be testing it out on there.

The container is only for selling the woods. if you have trees in them you never get them out. But maybe there will be some mods that let you use them to transport wood to factories :)

@@northmansride well now that giants have done an auto load for logs on console it may open up the possibility of modders making an auto load trailer…..can but hope anyway. But then it would all make it too easy. I’ve got auto load trailers for pallets and have stopped using them because the pallet physics actually work now so prefer to load manually.

Sort of - the issue is no vehicles really fit inside the container, so its really hard to get goods inside. It does work though, but its very hard to use. Better to use the Krone Trailer with the opening sides.

I almost found out the hard way. You do have to strap them down on the container trailer even though they lock in. I turned a corner a bit too quick and almost lost the container

I litterally just used a big wheel loader to place it on the flatbed train car and then drove the train slowly ot the end of the map and it sold.

Its very small inside - You probably could fit the ATVs in there, but definitely not a full size car. Pallets can go inside and be sold when the container is in the sell zone BUT you will not be able to get the forlift in, so you will need the strong farmer mod and will have to load it by hand.

I think this dlc would be a lot better if they had autoload log trailers instead of containers. I worked in the woods for a long time and never seen logs being loaded in a container. Be more realistic with a log trailer.

Actual container trailer design might be protected under copyright laws.Hence the low loader,although I have actually seen real containers transported down I-81 on a low loader trailer.
